Leftovers and Living

'Ello! Got my haircut. Nothing fancy, just a few inches off. Doesn't even look like that much to me, but I can feel it. I'm glad.

Yesterday I went out to eat at a southern restaurant in town. I had heard a lot about it, and since there was a fellowship to that restaurant I knew I had to go. One reason it was necessary was because they had chicken and waffles. I have never tried this bizarre concoction, and so I needed to try it. It's simply necessary if the offer is given.

There are two factors that make going out to dinner even better, or two factors that I look out for when going out to eat. Is that right? Not sure. Anywho, they are:
  1. Someone else is paying for it
  2. I can take leftovers home
I try to make leftovers out of EVERYTHING. Unfortunately, chicken and waffles do not make  leftover material. "You know that's not going to keep..." I know. I just like to live in denial and say that they will.
In conclusion, I'm not feasting on leftovers. Sad.

On that topic, there is the strangest phenomenon that I've been hearing about recently. I've been talking to people who don't like having leftovers. WHAT. What is this?
They complain it tastes funny. Then again, most of the people I've heard this from are kind of picky. I simply find it sad. Sure, some food doesn't taste as good the next day but having extra food for another day is fantastic! Just me I suppose.

In other news, I'm basically screwed for living arrangements next year. Oh, I asked earlier, "What should I do about housing?" to the "experts". They told me to wait, it'll all turn out. Then yesterday, I mentioned my housing and heard words that have been burning in my ears since:

"You're probably jumping on that too late."

GAH! This always happens! I listen to the people who "know" what they're talking about, and they tell me to take my time. By the time I get a second opinion, it's too late. So... yeah. I'm thinking next year is going to be another freakin' craigslist year. I vow to myself no exchange students though. I used to like the language Chinese... until I heard it screamed through the walls, leaving me awkwardly sitting in my room.

So, that's life right now. I really have to start this reading. I had a busy day, alright?
Oh, last news: my pace is getting slower and slower, and it's pissing me off like crazy. What have I been doing wrong?

Do you like taking leftovers home? What's your favorite leftover? I think I like burritos the best, or any Mexican food really.

Movie Night and Other Thoughts

I am quite tired, but I have things to talk about.

Mainly The Artist. Or, how much I want you to go see The Artist. Seriously, it's fantastic.
I hate to sound pretentious, but the use of sound was simply AMAZING. It certainly was a silent film, but at the same time... it wasn't. Hard to explain, which is why you should go see it. The characters were expressed perfectly, and every element was done brilliantly. Y'know when a movie just makes you feel good? This was one of those movies.
There's also something about Jean Dujardin that is simply delightful. His smile is so... charming. I don't know what it is, but it's just charming.
As a random note, John Goodman pops up in there too. I feel like John Goodman just seems to pop up wherever he likes. Not a diss, just an observation. I mean, he's Sulley and I adore that movie. (Props if you know what I'm talking about.)

As for the rest of life, it's been a relaxing day. A lot of huddling next to the heater. Today I've been feeling freezing all day, and I've been told that means I'm on the way to a cold. I've been fighting off a cold already! Bah. Oh well. Thank goodness no tests are coming up.

This evening I was compared to the actress from Beginners. Hm. I've never gotten that before. I suppose I could look like Melanie Laurent. Yes, I had to look up the name. She was the girl from Inglorious Basterds as well.

After a phone call from me mum, I realized I shouldn't be bothered about the Hao moving out without telling me thing. If he's paying still, it should be fine. Still, I just tend to take it personally. I can't help it! What can you do?

Oscars are tomorrow! Whatever shall I wear? We'll think of something.

What was the last movie you watched that made you feel good/you really liked?

Let's Have a Bit of Warning, Shall We?

Today has certainly been an... interesting day. Not one of the greatest, but I'd rather not complain. Here are just a few things of my day.
The theme of the day seemed to revolve around my need to know things ahead of time. In some situations, that was a good thing. In others... Not so much.

Like for the fact that one of my roommates is moving out for a month. Apparently he's going to pay rent, but... c'mon. We all live in this apartment together. You have to tell me these things! I'd say something if I was moving out for a month! I try with the communication, but that is just too much to not mention. I even asked the other day, "Oh, are you packing up for a trip?", and Hao just said no. Nothing about moving out. It just pisses me off. I'm going to confront them tomorrow about it, but I just didn't have time to talk today. (I was off to class as I found this out, so I didn't have much time to react.)

Okay, NOW I don't want to complain. I'm sorry! It was just something stressful that needed to be removed from my chest. Yes, I worded that as awkwardly as possible.

With liking to be as ahead of schedule as possible, I made sure to make an appointment with the study abroad advisers to ask questions. I've been worried about how my financial aid is going to work, and why I haven't gotten information.
Turns out, I'm WAY ahead of the game. The school doesn't even have all of their financial information figured out. The advisor I talked to today even told me that I was way ahead of the game.
I like it like that. Really, I'd rather know I'm ahead than last minute finding out about something I missed.

In other news, I've already got new goals for next month coming into play. Oh yes. I try to get a bit of a head start on them, but they become official at the beginning of the month. Like dipping your toes into the lake before cannon-balling in. Is today only the 24th? I've been thinking it's the 25th all day. I think I'm ready for March to be here.
Shameful fact: I get excited for the end of the month to come sometimes just so I can reach the end without spending more money for that month. Like if I need to grocery shop, I think, "Just a few more days... I've already spent X amount on groceries this month." Flawed logic? Completely. Let me have this though.

Welp, I'm going to bed and going to try to sleep in as long as possible before going on a run. I have no idea how far to run tomorrow, just because I'm not training for anything. What does my long run become? Perhaps I'll ask my sister to run with me.

Do you need a lot of warning, or are you more of a "on the whim" type person?

It's In My Genes

I should not be given large chunks of free time. It isn't good for my health.

In other news, I know I bitch about my room mates a lot... but I have just one more little thing to add. You know how I've mentioned they apparently forget things in the kitchen? Well, that goes for cooking things too. I talked before how an egg exploded in a pan before (that I actually forgot about until just now), but today was another little adventure into the almost burning down the apartment game. I walked into the kitchen to see some chicken in the oven. Okay, they're probably waiting to get it out after a little I think to myself. Later, I'm off to my last midterm but decided to check the oven. It's STILL IN THERE. Now it's black, and I knock on Lu's door for an answer. Turns out HaoChen (who's gone) put it in there for Lu. She knew it was in there. And she decided to TAKE A NAP.
You do not take naps if you're cooking something! If I hadn't checked before I'd left... good lord.

Okay, enough with the rant. Time to talk about other things!

It's always a funny thing to think about the traits you've picked up from your parents. No, I'm not talking about the way you say okay in that weird tone of voice like your mother. I'm talking about biology, specifically genes. On the outside, it appears that I've picked up more features from my mother's side than my father's side. Take a picture of my mom and me; you'll see the similarities. There's one other trait that comes from my mom's side that you usually wouldn't think about:
The hips.
As a fellow classmate said to me in high school, I've got some birthin' hips. (Should I take that as an insult?) Every woman on my mom's side of the family has them. This doesn't mean we've got booties though. No, we've got flat rears but the hips? Made for kids, apparently.

Even though I have a lot of my mom's traits, I have quite a few things from my dad's side. For one thing, I supposedly look identical to one of my aunts when she was a kid... Which I don't really want. There are many personal reasons why.
I also have acquired my dad's eye color, and apparently his bad teeth. Or so he tells me. I let it be an excuse as to why I've had three cavities in my life while my sister didn't even need to take her wisdom teeth out.

So from mom, we've got birthin' hips and face. From dad we've got eyes, teeth, and my shrimp allergy. Yeah, some great great uncle has a shellfish allergy. No idea until I had it.

That sounds about even. All in all, I think I've got some pretty swell genes.

Oh dear, I think I'm getting sick. It's what happens when you put your hands on your face all of the time. Terrible habit, should stop it. Night to you all!

What features/traits from your parents are the most recognizable for you?

First Impressions, and How To Fail at Them

First Impressions. They can make or break you, can't they? Well, that's pretty much what we've been told all of our lives. Yet, I have had experiences where my first impression wasn't good but changed for the better. Still for the most part? First impressions affect you and your judgement.
I constantly think about first impressions, because I'm currently at a point in my life where I have to make a lot of first impressions. Trying out for something is a first impression. Job interviews are a first impression. Making friends is an obvious one. One which I still suck at.

I tend to over think the first impression, but sometimes my first impression can be a hilarious blunder. Really, 9 out of 10 times my first impression is awkward or just plain ridiculous.

Let me tell you a little tale of a first impression I made today that I happen to find ridiculous, even at the cost of my own pride.

The story starts with the fact that rest of The Valley (the general area of Oregon where I live) has snow. My town? Does not.
What we are greeted with is the delightful presence of rain. Yup. Just how Oregon winters usually are.
Frankly, I did not want to go running in the rain. It was cold, grey, and unpleasant no matter which way you looked at it. However, I got my butt out there and ran 4 miles. (and messed up my phone for awhile. It happens)

Coming back to the apartment I see one of my room mates leaving the apartment. I ask her what's up, and she says she's off to hang out with a friend. I bid her adieu and toss on a dry shirt with no bra. Hey, there's no one else in the apartment, and I'll go back to my room in a bit.

As I walk back to the kitchen, I hear my room mate come back in.
"Hello! This is my friend!"
"Uh...Hello."
"Hi, I'm so and so."

When she was looking for an umbrella, I assumed she was going over somewhere else to hang out. Apparently not before she and her friend needed to stop back in. Oh, the shirt I was wearing was one of those sports materials shirts, that happens to show lines of anything that's close to the fabric. Yup. Doing an awkward model hunch to hide the surprise under the shirt was necessary.

Chalk one up for another successful first impression.
Speaking of, I need to write a cover letter for a job. Hm. Not something I'd like to do.

What's one of the weirdest first impressions you've ever made?

Returning From Far Away Lands

So we can agree that schedules are good, irregular sleeping habits are bad? Alright then.

The most recent update in my life is that my other room mate is back. I haven't had a chance to talk to him (not that it would really matter) due to the fact that when I saw him, he had passed out on his bed with the door open. I bet I would have been like that too.

You see, my other room mate informed me that Hao Chen was having some difficulties with his visa when trying to get back to America. Apparently, his transcript printed out wrong so that what appeared were only 4 credits, not 12. 4 credits does not equal a full-time student, thus causing concern. Now it seems that everything has turned out fine. Which is good, because that would not be fun to deal with if he wasn't able to get back to Oregon.

I'm glad he was able to get back, but at the same time I'm not too enthralled with having the two back together again. When only one of the room mates is around, they'll actually (possibly) take notice of my existence. When they're both back? I'm just a shadow in the house. Get what you paid for I suppose, but it's just a bit lonely.

Travelling in the same country can have its own problems, I can't imagine what issues international travel would have. Yes, I've travelled internationally, but it's only either been with an organized group or in the country right next door. The biggest mishap I've had with travel is being stuck in Arizona for a couple of days because our flight was cancelled.

Still adjusting to the schedule, but making progress. ...I still have some homework to do though. It's due at 4:00pm at least, so there's that.

What's the worst travel mishap you've ever had?

Back to the Apartment and Popular Posts

So I'm back in the ol' apartment. Yup. Might go back home before the start of classes, not really sure yet. Anywho...

One of my room mates is back, but the other one is still away. I suppose it's alright coming back to a not empty apartment, but at the same time it usually feels empty anyways. Good lord, that's depressing. (but true.)

Alright, my room mate is nice, just a little... lazy? I suppose that word works. She's paranoid like crazy though, thinking everyone is an intruder. Most of the time, we're on a pretty good level. She even texted me (and my mom!) happy new year. There's just one little thing that has irked me.

She happened to get the mail, and decided to separate it. I had ordered a book, and it came in the mail while I was gone. The thing is, the package that the book was in was already opened. My room mate replied, "Sorry! I thought it was mine..."
Honest mistake, right? Except this is the second time she's done this. I know it's not a big deal, but I can't help but feel a little irritated. Hannah H. does not look like Lu C. Did she even consider reading who it was sent to?

Oh, and it's nothing devious that I ordered, if that's what you're wondering. It's a book called The Fault in Our Stars, and it's a young adult novel. More on that later.

Alright, in news other than ranting, my most popular post has finally changed! For this week anyway. Y'see, my most popular post has been Fat Squirrels and Apples to Apples. Ever since it's been posted, that's what's been the most popular. Odd? Yes. The reason why? People searching the term fat squirrels. I wish I was kidding.

That post has 2,477 views for all time. The next most viewed post has 188. People really like fat animals apparently.

Well, I honestly need to get away from the computer. This post has taken a long time to write, just because I keep on getting distracted.

Bloggers, What's your most popular post?
How do you feel about other people opening your mail?

Flippin' Schedules

It's that special time of year again!

Source
No, not this time of year.
It's time to register for classes. Oh yes.

One of the things that I despise am getting used to while attending the U of O is the whole system of class scheduling, and advising appointments. At WOU, it was very easy to have everything figured out for your classes. They would post signs in the walkways, indicating that signing up for classes was coming very soon. They would send you an email to remind you. You only had one advisor, and that advisor helped you with all of your class scheduling questions. That? That does not happen here.

Trying to be the responsible student, I made sure to set up an advising appointment, with the person said to be my advisor. Being on the ball, I thought to myself. However apparently, your advisor does not help with your schedule. Your advisor helps with internships and such. That meant having a drop in appointment but thankfully, they were able to see me today.
With all of this stuff you have to do yourself, it's amazing to me just because my room mate last year couldn't even figure out all of the advising stuff despite the large amounts of help she received.

Have you ever had something organized just the way you like, just to realize that one thing has to change, changing your whole set up in the process? I have, and when you're unstable due to not enough sleep the night before, it's not a good thing. Especially if it makes sometime you really want to do in the future seem even more difficult than it was before. I may have gotten testy with the advisor after learning about certain classes being offered at certain dates, and how it would affect my plans. Then again, she was kind of rude. She cut me off a lot, which personally I don't think is very nice even if you think you know what the other person is going to say.

Apparently the advising situation isn't great for a lot of people, as I've been informed. I suppose that's just what you have to deal with in a big university.

I register for classes on Friday, so I decided to organize my (hopeful) schedule for the next term. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with organizing my class schedule because I love to organize my time, but sometimes things don't fit the way I want them to. Eh, what can you do.

On an unrelated note, this month is NaNoWriMo! The other name for it is National Novel Writing Month, and I always forget it. The whole idea is that you are to write a novel that is 50,000 words by the end of the month. I always think that it would be cool to participate in, but by the time the month begins I realize that I don't have any ideas for things to write about. Then again, I'm not sure if I've ever had an idea for a novel. Comics sure, but a novel? Not really. Still, it's a very cool idea.

When did I start enjoying November so much? I've actually been really liking this month. Plus, it's already half over (almost) meaning that Thanksgiving is very soon! Hoorah!

I can't believe how late it is already. Goodness. It's bedtime for me.

Do you like planning your schedule ahead of time, or a you a more "go with the flow" type? Me: Very big on planning ahead. My high school friends: Extremely go with the flow. Opposites attract?

Random Thoughts

Tonight, there's not really just one thing that's on my mind. Currently, my brain is kind of a scattered mess. So, here's my thoughts:
  • I've got my first midterm tomorrow at eight. I also have to finish up a weekly textbook chapter (HPHY, why....), and this week it decided to be really complicated.
  • I received a birthday present in the mail today. I can't open it until my birthday though. Why not just give it to me when I see you on Saturday, instead of mailing it and making it a tease. Seriously.
  • Last night I had a dream that I was trying to sleep, and my room mates were being really noisy. When I asked them to be quiet, the flipped out and started attacking me. Then I woke up this morning realizing they're not evil. They're just disgustingly messy. Oy.
  • Everything hurts. Why does everything hurt? Plus, I've got random bruises all over my leg. What.
  • My overhead light has a fire and ice thing going on. It's weird. I guess that's what happens when you have an eco bulb and a non eco bulb in there.
  • I turn twenty in two days, but I've been assuming I'm twenty for the past few weeks. Huh.
  • I was baking some bread today, and wondering why it wasn't baking, I realized something... One of my room mates turned off the effing oven while I was baking. I wanted to slap a ho.
  • I may break down because I can't find my scissors. Where the heck could they be, this room isn't very big!
Yeah. That's about it. Now to get back to studying... Oh god.

What's on your mind?

Icky Weather and Odd Room Mate Habits

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks such a pace is ridiculous. Anywho, let's talk about today.

Good lord. There has been music playing really loudly for the past hour and a half. Is this for sorority? Those girls be crazy.

The rain has officially arrived here in Oregon. It's not like the sun didn't try to peak out from the clouds, it was successful for an hour or two. Alas, the sky has turned to grey and the rain has started to come down.

Rain can be nice, sure. That's why Oregon is so green, and can be quite a beautiful place. On the other hand, rain can usually be classified as mrr weather. Weather in which you don't want to do anything. You just want to snuggle in your covers and waste time.

Thankfully, I actually ended up getting a decent amount done. Almost caught up on all of my Journalism readings, printed out some things that needed to be printed, work done for tomorrow... and it's not even 8:30 yet! Man, I love that feeling.

Lastly, ever since I moved into this apartment the only place I spend my time in is my room. I have a couch in the living room, but never hang out in there. I moved the kitchen table into the kitchen, but I never eat there. I think it's mainly because it still smells weird around most of the apartment (excluding my room). Thankfully, it's slowly fading away. I think. I don't spend that much time out there. I'm hoping to move myself out there more often, because now my room is starting to give me the same feeling as a dorm... except bigger.

As for the room mates, they seem to be talking louder and louder. Lu is on edge all of the time, because whenever I pass by even with warning, she jumps. All she or Hao Chen ever says to me is "hi", "bye", or "thank you". And yes, I am trying to start up conversations. That's not working. And this is something that has happened a couple of times already:
I come home. I go to the kitchen, probably for some water or something. Lu scurries out of her room in her bathrobe (all she ever seems to wear if she doesn't have to go outside), and looks at Hao's door. I say "Hi", which she replies, "Oh, I thought it was him who was home", and then scurries back to her room to watch Friends.
She really likes Friends. I think Hao watches 24. They never turn on the lights in their rooms, I only see a bluish glow ever coming from their rooms. It's... a weird living situation.

I think that's enough rambling from me for tonight, time to either A)Work on more Homework or B)Waste time surfing the web. You know which one is probably going to happen.

How do you inspire yourself to get things done when all you want to do is be lazy because of the weather?

Changing Expectations and Roommates

It looks like it's going to be just a tad bit later of a night for me. Yes, I'm very dependent on a sleep schedule, sue me.

The week is coming to a close, and I'm glad. As you might realize, I am so ready for the weekend. For now, I just need to finish up this assignment that's due tomorrow.

It's funny how things sometimes just don't turn out the way we think they will. I say this because I am surprisingly understanding Economics quite well. Then again, we'll see when it comes time to the first test. Hoo boy.
The one class that I thought would be fantastic for me, but isn't turning out so great is my Human Physiology class. The thing is, I work really well with textbooks. Now I'm not bashing on the fact that I was able to save money by not getting a textbook, but here's the thing. Our homework is pretty much "look up the information. I'm not really going to talk about anything useful in class, except how exercise=good." Well, that's how the first few classes have been. I am not amused. Plus, I'm very type A. I like to have structure, and this is not it. Welp, what can you do?

The rooming situation... it's weird. My original idea was that I could become friends with my room mates. Have connections. Um... yeah, probably not going to happen. I can barely get a word out of either of them, let alone a conversation. And that's not just because they hardly know English, it's because it's just awkward talking to them.
I'm also pretty much positive that they're in a relationship. Why? Well, for one thing, last night he went into her room and didn't come out again until the next day. Just sayin'. I'm just glad I haven't heard noises.
But tonight? Tonight was weird. I think they were having a fight. I had no idea what they were saying of course, but I heard Lu's tone of voice... Not sounding very happy. So it's just weird.

What's a weird rooming situation you've had? When have things changed from your original expectations? Was it for the better, or worse?

The Truth About the Apartment

"You can only go up. You can only go up from here."

That's what I keep telling myself. Because I've been denying it, and blocking out the negative thoughts. The truth is, my apartment isn't that great. As soon as someone else said how bad it was, I realized that they were saying all of the things I was saying in the back of my mind. I just didn't want it to be true.

There are some good things, like I have a lot of closet space and my own bathroom. On the flip side, the apartment reeks. The main reason for that is that my room mates are slobs, and bigger than my last one. They leave food out, they stink up the apartment... I'm Febreezin' that junk up.

Why did I choose such a bad apartment? Mainly I was scared of not having a place to live for school. It had taken me so long to find out if I was actually accepted, I wasn't sure if there would be any places available. Honestly, I don't know what the hell I'm doing.

So my room is clean. I just need to decorate it. I'm just stressed and tired. And gosh darnit, I've been trying so hard not to complain here, but I'm just letting my thoughts fly.

Have you ever had a crappy living arrangement? What did you do about it?

Pre Move-In Jitters

This week has officially become the week of moving. This time, it was moving my sister to her apartment. Yes, fun times.
When helping friends move, there are usually a couple of benefits. Maybe some lunch or something, right? Moving family means you do it, or you're a bitch. It's just how things go. What can you do?

It's weird going from a room mate that you've known for years to room mates that you didn't know until you decided to room together. I mean, I'm not even living there yet, and I still don't know how to correctly interact with them. When hearing the two of them talking in Chinese the few times I've been there, I wonder what they're talking about. Is it something I did?

How is it going to be when I move in, you know? I have no idea.

I started thing about this when seeing my sister interact with her room mate. Now, she's not close with her room mate, but she at least had connections with the person before moving in. I suppose it's all part of living with other people.

Who's the strangest room mate you've ever had?

Seeing the Changes All Around

Everywhere I go, things are becoming even more empty than usual. For example:

My room mate is gone. No, she didn't take the mattress, but it is making a nice mat for the ground in case I'm too lazy to actually jump onto my bed to lounge. I forgot how echo-y the room would be without being filled with school supplies and things from home.

Apart from studying most of the day, I went off to enjoy lunch with a few friends and acquaintances. One member of the gang was going to leave right after the lunch, and since she's transferring as well she's pretty much gone for good.

The fact that everything is coming to an end is finally starting to hit me. People are packing up, more and more people to say goodbye to everyday... Crazy.

With this, I feel like the starting gun for the race went off ten minutes ago and I'm still lacing up my shoes. Sure, I have a lot of things packed. I'll be done with finals soon. Still, I'm getting the feeling that I'm being left behind in the dust.

College hasn't felt like college. College has felt like I've been at camp. Is that how it's supposed to feel? Maybe I'll feel different next year. No RAs going through the halls for checks, no "camp" based activities... Who knows?

I've got to get to bed. Eight A.M. final tomorrow... Woo!

When do you finally start to feel the affects of a change?

Random Thoughts, Art Displays and School Worries

My room mate never seems to turn the light on whenever she's in the room. If I turn on the light if I'm in the room before her, it's fine, but she never turns it on if she's in the room. I wonder why this is. I would say perhaps it's an emotional thing, but it could also be because she's lazy. I can not say.

I don't think I'm cool enough to be in my age group, or at least a college student. That is because I do not own a pair of TOMS. Perhaps something to invest in in the future? We'll see.

I've had two opposing dreams about the same test. In one of the dreams, I received a D on the test, and it was terrible. The other dream, I received 100%. Both of these ideas I knew were delusions, but I was still stressing until I got the test back today. I ended up doing quite well, but not that well.

Random thoughts that pass through my head like this make me think I should get a Twitter, because that's basically what it is, right? Then I go through the struggles of trying to think of a good name, and pass the idea by.

One thing that I'm definitely going to miss about this campus are the awesome art projects that the art students put outside of the art building from time to time.

Many of the things I have seen I would like to steal away for myself...

...but you knew that.

On the subject of schools, for I think the first time on Friday I became terrified of transferring schools. It could be possibly because of the feeling sick factors coming into play, but I think it's a lot more than that. For instance, I'm worried that I'm going to get lost all of the time. I'll be late to classes, and be locked out or something. Also, I've done quite well in school at WOU, but how am I going to do at U of O? With bigger classes, will they be a lot harder for me? Will I be completely forgotten in the classroom setting? I really don't think I'd like that. One of the bigger things that I should be worrying about is living arrangements, but I've been worrying more about getting projects for school done right now. Livin' in the moment I guess... except for those other worries.

It is Monday, so I guess the lesson for the day is... from Bridesmaids. That lesson is food poisoning is kind of like that, except maybe less graphic.
Yeah, don't have much in that subject. And I'm done talking about food poisoning now.

How do you deal with the fear of the unknown future?

Random thoughts, Influence of Others, Psychology Class and Gum

I've got a lot of random thoughts for the day, so bear with me.

I didn't mention this yesterday, but can you believe this Schwarzenegger scandal? Geez. Remind me to never marry a politician, because apparently they all like to cheat on their wives. Anywho.

I saw someone wearing Vibram Five Fingered shoes with socks. How does that work?

I didn't think about this before, but my room mate is completely influenced by the people she hangs out with through dress. I know that her personality is like this, but I never noticed it affects what clothes she wears. It's crazy. For instance, when she used to hang out with the stoner group in high school like myself, she dress like... a stoner. Hemp mushroom necklace, ironic plaid shirts, you name it. When she hung out with the wannabe gangsta/prep people, her gangsta clothes shined through. That's actually one of her main styles though. Now, she's begun dressing exactly like her friend Katie. Even their hairstyles are really similar. Weird.
When I hung out with mis stoner amigos, I still dressed like my usual preppy/girly style. Cardigans will always be my fashion friends.

When I started taking the Psychology class, I was really excited about it. However, now that we've gotten to the eight week, I've realized that I despise the class. The strange thing is, it's not the reason you would think.
My professor is a pretty cool lady. She's very humorous, she tells us interesting stories... but she isn't the greatest professor in my opinion. Her classes at first were good enough. Show us a video clip or two, then talk about the slides. Some of the slides she went through a little quickly, but they're online. Now it's video clip, video clip, show five seconds of slide then another video clip. It's pretty much only video clips. You might think, "Oh that shouldn't be that bad, should it?" Actually, it is. I want to learn, and I don't feel like I'm getting it that great from video clips. It's true that the clips (usually) have some information that's useful, but when it comes to quiz time I feel like the classes have taught me nothing. That's not a good sign. Plus it feel like she wants to get through the slides as fast as possible just so she can get to the next video clip.
I didn't think that it was that weird to want to learn in college.

Today we happened to watch talk about obsessive compulsive disorder today. For one thing, this class tends to bring out the hypochondriac in me. Also, I think I have some OCD habits, but not as bad with the cleanliness factor. It is true that I have terrible anxiety with wearing anything that has a stain on it though. My OCD habit has to do with numbers. I can't stand odd numbers, I only like even numbers. For instance, if the volume of something is measured in numbers, I despise seeing it on an odd number. I always have to turn it to an even number. Or five, because five is half of ten... which makes it okay somehow. My favorite number is eight, probably the king of even numbers. All the things you divide it by are even, (except for one, but that doesn't count) and it's infinity sideways. Okay, eight is just an awesome number just because.

I've stopped chewing gum. Well, I stopped... yesterday? In the afternoon, when I ran out of the current pack that I had. Hopefully, this will continue for more than a day or two. I realized that my gum habit had gotten out of control when I realized I was going for sticks of gum like a chain smoker... or chewing gum. That makes sense, yes? Along with the smoking analogy, it occurred to me that one of the many arguments I make to people who smoke (other than the obvious ones) are the fact that it's a habit that wastes a lot of money. I may have been using meal card money, which will need to be used up anyways, but it adds up. Therefore, gum is out of the picture for now.
Plus, the other reason I decided I should stop is because it was starting to make my jaw hurt. That's just depressing.

People in my hall probably think that I'm completely insane if they can hear me out in the hallway. Sometimes I clap to nothingness, or it seems that way because I'm jamming with my headphones in. Yesterday to my computer I yelled, "I will hit you because you are being stupid!" It was being stupid, but now people may think that I am abusive. Not a good thing.

Have you ever taken a class that didn't turn out like you expected? Was it better or worse?

Making Things Tidy, Messy and Organized All at the Same Time

So opposite effects are happening in the rooming situation as of late. Well, maybe just today.
The room mate spent the day tidying everything up. I spend part of the day tearing it apart like it was Christmas morning.

I suppose this picture seems like it only illustrates two slightly mess girls. Oh well.

The reasoning behind this? I don't recall if I've mentioned this, but my last final happens to be on the last Friday of school. This is also the day that we are meant to move out of the dorms. My final ends at two. We need to be out of here at five. Personally, I don't want to be running around like a madman for three hours trying to get my rear out of here. Honestly, it took me about three weeks to finally get all of my things in my room to my liking. ...Yeah.

The results of that were that I happend to get a full box of things out to my car already! Plus my gift for my birthday from my room mate.If you don't remember, she bought me a goose. For some reason, all of my home town friends like to buy me random things they find in thrift stores.

It may not look like much was removed from the room, but I was able to clear out most of three drawers:

Plus, that box had been under my bed. and it had quite of bit of stuff in there to begin with. Feelin' productive!

Honestly, today was extremely productive, but it just felt like I wanted to get so much more done! The days... far too short.

How soon do you get started when moving out of somewhere?

Defending the Room Mate and Natural Hair

My room mate was dissed by someone today. Right to me. Basically what she said was,
"She seems nice, but... there's just something I don't like about her."
The thing about that is you do NOT diss my room mate to me. It's like the sibling thing. Yes, you can bitch and moan all you want about your room mate, but when someone else gives even a little sass... Yeah, things are going down.

My hair is getting ridiculous. I need to get a haircut. The weird thing is, with my hair I never end up doing much. The one big thing that I do with my hair that doesn't come naturally is part it to the side. My hair happens to naturally part down the center, which isn't a great thing. With having dirty blond hair, my 'do with the part down the middle resembled the Hanson brothers. Now? I decided to take a look.

This is how I usually have my hair.

And this is how I really usually wear my hair.

I really should work with my hair more. I'm simply lazy. I tend to think if it doesn't frizz out like crazy, it's fine.

How do you do your hair?

Spring, Advising, Loosing Things and The Royal Wedding

I'm trying to decide how I feel about Spring right now. I thought that it was one of my favorite seasons until I actually thought about what the weather is like in the spring. Truthfully? Not very nice. I think I like Summer the best, then Fall.

Having an advising appointment is awkward when you have to say you're transferring somewhere else. Just... Really awkward.

I know that's it's an old expression, but my room mate would lose her own head if it wasn't attached. My reasoning for this is quite valid. You see, weekly, maybe even daily there is something that she looses within the depths of her mountains of clothes. For the last week, something even bigger than usual went missing: her wallet. Now, that's a pretty serious thing to lose. So she's been searching everywhere for it: her clothes piles, her friends' rooms, anywhere she's been. Luckily, she found it today. IN HER BACKPACK. I know that I can be forgetful, but that's just ridiculous.

With the strangely large masses of Americans, I too am getting a little excited for the royal wedding. I think the reason that it's so exciting for the rest of us is because it's like the fairy tale dream we all hope for. There's one disadvantage to wanting to watch the wedding though. So, you know how you East Coasters will see the wedding ceremony start at 6? It starts at 3 over here. In the morning.
I plan on waking up with some of the people in my hall, then going straight to bed as soon as the ceremony is over. Sorry, but that's ridiculous.

Are you excited for the royal wedding? Are you waking up for it?

Psychological Situations, Dreams From Real Life and Talking Things Out

This week may seem pretty long, but I can't believe that it's already 9:30!

I'm fairly positive that Psychology is making me go insane. Oh, it's not because of homework. Psychology is giving me serious mental problems. From the three weeks I've been in the class, I've learned that no matter what my sister will have a higher IQ than me, and that I'm emotionally shut off. When we get to the point where we're testing my neurosis, my score will shoot through the roof.

Speaking of Psychological issues...

I've talked about how the room mate and I have had some trouble with communication, or lack thereof. I tend to learn more about her from her other friends then actually from her. Now, for the most part I am a complete pansy and I've had trouble talking things out. (The whole emotion problem, see?) Anywho, I decided to actually grow a pair and straight up ask, "Why don't you ever TALK to me?"
Not those exact words, but the general idea. This frustration plus the caffeine consumed too late in the day yesterday made me have trouble sleeping. Still, with the struggling sleep I managed to have a dream where I asked that, and the response wasn't a terrible fight ensuing. And you know what? That's exactly what happened. The room mate was more relieved than angry, and said that she was just quite. Which actually... she's kind of like that a lot, even before. There are still a few things I need to prod her about, but it's just one step at a time.

I would say that I should listen to my dreams more, but the night before I had had a dream where the Pope deemed Lady Gaga as next Pope in line. Maybe not.

I'm ready for the weekend! Or at least something other than academia to occur in my life.

Has a dream you've had ever been strangely similar to real life?
