Spring Shows its Face

Well, the end of the month is here.

March? Didn't fall term start yesterday? Wasn't it getting dark at 5:00 pm last week?

I'm beginning to feel the vibes of summer in the first week of the term. That's not a good thing. With it being so bright out until about eight, I keep on thinking I have a lot more time to do things. Not the case.

Everyone told me that winter term is the hardest, but I'm starting to think otherwise...

Speaking of the weather, Spring simply decided that it would sneak up on me. I was not expecting it to go up to 60 degrees when I donned a long sleeved shirt for my run.

The camera on my phone works again, hooray!
In reality, I love this warm weather. The beautiful days seems to put everyone in a good mood, including me.

Yet I look upon the sunshine-y days with a weary eye, because I know what Oregon is up to. Sure, it'll show us a few days of gorgeous sun. Next thing you know, BAM! The weather will start doing this:

2:00- Sunny skies, not a cloud in sight.
2:05- Pouring down rain.
2:10- A tad overcast, but even warmer than before.
2:15- HAIL. A lot of it.
2:20- Bright sunny skies again.

I know how Oregon works. I've seen this happen many a time, cancelling some tennis matches in the process. I'm onto you.

Has spring sprung for you? Or are you still experiencing chilly temperatures?

Productive Distractions

It's already Wednesday, but I'm glad. I'm ready for the weekend simply so I can get everything all put together again.

Yes, I'm a tad neurotic, I understand that. However, when I get so distracted half of my toes are normal and the other half still have paint on them, then we've got a problem.

I wish I was making that up.

Truth be told, I've been getting a lot of things done. The only problem is I'm getting some things done while other things linger overhead. Things that are more important than what's being accomplished. Do you get what I'm saying?

One of those things includes some reading that's due for tomorrow. I've started but... let's just say I've got awhile to go.

What "productive" distractions do you have? For me, I start cleaning or organizing my schedule.

The Unexpected Trip Home

Still getting on track.... still getting distracted. Hoo boy.

As I said yesterday, I was planning a continuation of my spring break adventures. That's true, but now I'm going to talk about the trip back.

I've had issues getting back home after many spring breaks. I think the Universe has been trying to tell me something, but I'm not sure what.

For you see, on Saturday the gang headed over to the airport at about 11. What happened next was spending 6 or so hours there.
The reason? You may or may not have heard about it, but Alaska had some technological issues, stranding many people all over.
Tensions rose. Airport food was running low. Many worried about if they were going to be able to get home. I managed to get to San Jose, California with my sis, my mom, and our family friends. They were saying the earliest flight out of there was going to be Tuesday, if we were lucky. That led up to the impromptu roadtrip.

Two hours Saturday night. A ten hour drive on Sunday. One rental car. Six people. We went from this...

...through this.

Then we got to rainy ol' Oregon. Big reason of difficulty recuperating? Yes indeed.
Despite the difficulty recuperating, it did make me think of a simple life lesson that I've learned from yes, fictional characters. This lesson comes from generally every after-school program type, but I'll use Full House since it's the one I watched.

The lesson is things can work out in the end if you don't let negativity get the better of you. Yes, things don't always work out. Life really isn't as bubbly as those shows tell you, but you know what? Life doesn't end until you're dead. You can bitch and moan about the crappy things that happen, or you can try to do things to fix them. Life isn't happily ever after, but it doesn't have to be horribly ever after either.

Welp, I need to get a tad more reading done for tomorrow, but I shall have more to talk about tomorrow! (I have a blog, of course I talk a lot.) Have a lovely evening!

What's the worst traveling problem you've ever had?

Spring Break Adventures

It's not easy adapting to change. Even if that change is getting back to your regular schedule of life.

I hope everyone out there had a lovely spring break, or week in general! I know mine was quite a nice for the most part. More on that later.

I don't think I actually ever mentioned it before, but I went to Cabo San Lucas for spring break. In all actuality, I didn't end up doing much while I was down there, but that's exactly what I wanted. I soaked in the sun. I looked around at little shops.
I drank ridiculous fruity drinks. Really, those are all pretty good ways to spend a week.

I didn't do much buying in the stores, but my mom sure did. She gets a little excited. For example, here are just a few sunglasses that she bought. She bartered for them, so why not get a lot?

That's half of them. And this is just sunglasses.

One of the things I didn't realize before was how many fruits and veggies I actually eat. I know that I'm not the type to go all natural. I will eat types of foods that healthy foodies shun to the depths of nutrition purgatory. Still, my diet is pretty clean. Having almost everything in Cabo covered in cheese? Not so much. I did have some delish eatings there.

I spent the time on vacation with my family, some of my aunts and uncles, and some family friends. One thing that happens when you get my mom together with her sister and acting all goofy? Over-quoting of things such as this:

Or this:

Or many dirty jokes. Yes, that's my mom, and I love her. Even if she's a goofball.

As for moving around, I guess I did do some activities: Whale watching and a few runs.
First, I don't have the pictures on my camera from the whale watching, but there are pictures. Too many, really. That was just cool because we saw whales breaching. There were three all at once with a baby too! Cool.

I did run a few miles over the course of the week, but it was a HUGE difference from how much I usually run. For the most part I ran on the treadmills, but one day I ventured out on the beach. HARDEST RUN OF MY LIFE. And it wasn't even over 2 miles! On the way back I ran in the city, just because it felt like a punch in the gut on the beach. I like running in the city a lot more, simply because there's so much to see, and I like reactions from people.

Running by the Marina? I think yes.
I love being on vacation, but I'm glad to be home. My body is seriously off-kilter.

I do have more stories to tell, but they have to wait until tomorrow! Right now, I have to get to sleep. I am exhausted, part of the reason being what I'm going to talk about tomorrow. Which will also intertwine a Thing I Have Learned From Fictional Characters. Now doesn't that sound fun?

What do you like to do on vacation? Would you rather chill by the pool or go out to do something physical?

And Now, Back to Our Regular Programming...

...Well, I suppose not exactly.

For right now, I have to continue the packing up process from my home, then be ready to drive back to school early tomorrow morning. It's been a long two days, that's for sure.

I will be sure to divulge in all of my epic adventures tomorrow, but for now I'll leave you with a basic gist of what went down in the past week:
  • Sunshine
  • Whales
  • Wacky Family Members
  • Eating Habits 180'd
  • Sunglasses Everywhere
  • Airline Glitches
  • Impromtu Road Trips
...Spanish is not looking like a happy thing to wake up to tomorrow. Ah well.

The Celebrity Diet

If you happen to pick up a magazine next to the checkout in a store, you'll probably see something about a star on some super amazing diet, or how they stay thin. You might also hear an interview from a star, saying that, "They just ate a bacon cheeseburger", and yet are still a size zero.

The way celebrities affect us is so crazy, isn't it? We look around, and we don't see many people who are their size. We try to eat like them, but instead of staying that size zero we start packing on the pounds. Sure, there could be some celebrities that have amazing metabolisms. However, that's not that common. Some celebs workout pretty much everyday. They're able to hire people to cook all of their meals, and make sure they are eating right.

One of my biggest pet peeves is to hear a star say, "Oh, I eat junk food all of the time. And working out is icky." The reason it bothers me so much is because I know that a lot of people want to think they'll work like that too. It just doesn't work.

We can't all work out all of the time. We can't all hire someone to cook us meals. It's a lot of hard work to stay healthy without that kind of help. All we can do is try our best to be healthy, and maybe ask for help from the people around us.

The Difference Between Fitting In and Standing Out

Four people who graduated from my high school in 2010 go to this college, and two of them are my room mate and myself. The other two I see from time to time around campus, offering a friendly hello. One thing that has happened quite a bit has been thinking I see one of them when really it’s someone I’ve never seen before in my life. I remember what these people look like of course, I grew up with them. Then why would I have so much trouble mistaking others for them?

It’s because they’re doing too good of a job of fitting in.

If you stopped by a college campus anytime soon, you would notice an onslaught of students in jeans and sweatshirts. This combo can also be mixed with workout pants, winter coats, and simple shirts. For the girls, you’ll probably see a lot of headbands with their hair tied up. On the feet, you’ll see tennis shoes or Uggs.
Sure, it’s comfortable. Sure, it’s what everyone is wearing. Alas, then you end up mixing in with the crowd too well. Think about it like this: You’re applying for a job. The other interviewees are all very similar to you in skill, work ethic, etc. Why should the business hire you?

Now I’m not saying you should go around dressing up in a clown suit or something bizarre like that. However, I’d like to think I’d rather be wearing a dress than jeans. Add a dash of color. Make yourself stand out, but in a good way!

Would you like to be well known in the way Leonardo Dicaprio is, or like Heidi Montag? That’s how it’s like standing out in a good or bad way.

If sweatshirts and jeans are the way you like to dress, that’s fine too. Just try not to fade into the crowd!

How do you stand out?

The Fascination With Accents

No matter what, wherever you are from, you have an accent to someone else. In my case, I’ve never really thought I have an accent. My accent is guess is “stereotypical American” accent. Either way, almost everyone is fascinated by accents. Why is that?

Is it the way that people say different words that interest us? Maybe it’s like hearing poetry being read. All of the words are the same, but how someone reads it effects how we hear it.

I really like British accents personally. I don’t know why, but I could just listen to them talk all day. And don’t even get me started on slang!

What type of accents do you love?

The Deal With Gum

Smack
Smack
Smack.

What’s that noise? Oh, it’s just someone chewing away on their gum. What a peculiar little thing gum is. The history of gum includes people in ancient times chewing on pieces of sap from trees. Mm, tasty!

Nowadays, there are dozens of different varieties of gum and almost everyone seems to chew on it. I’ll admit, I chew on quite a bit of gum from time to time, yet I think it’s fair to say that it can get annoying.
You know what I mean, right? You’re sitting in a room, and all you can hear is the gruesome smacking of gum from someone else in the room. It’s not the prettiest of noises. The thing is when you’re chewing gum, try to make it less obnoxious. Don’t chew with your mouth open for one thing. Why do you think you’re told that when eating? It’s mostly because people don’t want to see your food, but they also don’t want to hear that sound!

However, gum isn’t going to go away anytime soon. It’s not necessarily a bad thing to chew gum either. Some people like to chew gum to curb their munchies. I know that there have been times where I’ve just wanted the taste of something, yet I wasn’t hungry so I popped in some gum. Isn’t better to have gum instead of eating that box of cereal because you were munchy? I thought not.

Gum can be good or bad either way you look at it. Just next time when you’re chewing on that Trident, try not to chew it like a piece of cud. And chewing twenty pieces of gum at a time isn’t going to help instead of having a snack either. Just like everything in life, you’ve got to be sensible about your gum- chewing ways.

Do you chew gum? What kind?

Napping and Sheets

How do you like your sleeping arrangements? We all have our specific way we like to travel into snooze town, and we have plenty of options to choose from. Maybe you’re they type who’s perfectly fine flopping onto the couch to drift off. Or you could be the type that has trouble sleeping unless they sleep in their own, super soft bed. In any case, everyone has specific ways they go to sleep.

In my own napping ventures, I’ve fallen asleep in my fair share of quirky places. I’ve snuck in a nap of the floor next to the heater, I’ve drooled in a chair, I’ve slept in a bus with my head smushed against  the seat in front of me. Still, I like to sleep in a good old fashioned bed like most everyone else I can think of.

My sleeping habits are pretty normal. I drool occasionally, I can toss and turn, my feet have fallen asleep many times before. Yet there is one habit I have that makes my mother think there’s something off about me.

I don’t like sleeping under the sheets. This isn’t to say that I don’t sleep under the covers, but sheets? I simply have no use for them. My mom thinks I’m mad, but I think it’s a very valid reason. The whole point of sleeping is to be as comfortable as possible, and sheets do not help me with that. They’re crisp, crunchy…. those are not words I would use to describe my favorite place to sleep.

I don’t know a lot of others who dislike sleeping in the sheets, but then again, people have weirder sleeping habits than that. There are people who even get it on while they're sleeping!

All I know that I like to get in my recommended amount of sleep wherever possible. Even if that means falling asleep on the ground in front of the heater.

What’s an odd sleeping habit you have?

Things I Have Learned From Fictional Characters

Today’s Thing I Have Learned From Fictional Characters comes from every zombie movie I’ve ever seen.
Always be prepared for a zombie attack, just don’t be that crazy shut in who only thinks about zombie attacks. This might sound a little crazy, but there’s a method to my madness.

In many zombie movies, the setting seems innocent enough at the beginning or somewhere around the beginning. Slowly but surely, you come to the realization that there’s something off. Zombies emerge into the scene, and chaos runs rampant.

The main characters (non-zombie) can be seen throughout the entirety of the film battling zombies, but they had to make sure they could stay alive for that long. Sometimes that involves a zombie breaking into their house, and that means you’ve got to be prepared!

Which brings us to the What To Do If a Zombie Attacks game. Look around wherever you’re sitting right now. Think to yourself: If a zombie was coming at me right now, what tool could I use to bash its head in? You can’t think as well when a crazy half dead is coming right at you. That’s how you play! Quite simple, and useful just in case.

Just don’t be that crazy shut in who obsesses about an upcoming zombie onslaught. Seriously, have a life worth living before the zombie apocalypse. Besides, they usually end up dying anyways, and go bat-s**t crazy before they do. …If they weren’t already.

I hoped you enjoyed that little PSA, because well… you never know!

What is the strangest Zombie movie you’ve ever seen? Definitely Black Sheep for me… Zombie sheep? Oh geez.

State Pride

Two of the stereotypes that America is known for are quite opposite. We’re known for either overly patriotic or no wanting to have anything to do with America and the terrible damage it has done to the world. The latter includes many people who simply want to move to Canada as stated in Stuff White People Like. Either way, The United States is pretty much well known for its strong views on either side of the spectrum of country love. When I think about the way some Americans are viewed as “overly love-y” of the country, I start to relate it to myself. Only my obsessive love isn’t with the U.S.A., it’s with Oregon.

When approaching an Oregonian, don’t be surprised about their devotion to the state. If you’re not one of them, their first reaction might be something along the lines of an interesting Oregon fact. Such as:
  • Did you know Oregon is the only state flag that has two sides? One side has a beaver on it!
  • Oh yeah, Oregon is the only state with a state nut? It’s the hazelnut.
  • Did you know that (The Shining, The Goonies) was filmed in Oregon?
Next, they’ll begin to tell you all of the great things about Oregon, complaining about how the rest of the country doesn’t understand how pretty awesome it is. It’s so green, it’s very clean… we recycle all of the time. Yes, you will be notified of how much we recycle.

There’s one point where Oregonians tend to differ though, and that’s when it comes to taking themselves seriously. Many of the Oregonians can’t see how ridiculous they appear to the rest of the world by saying no one can touch Oregon in awesomenest.

Then there are the people who have been able to pass that point and realize Oregon isn’t perfect. No duh no state is perfect! I may love Oregon, but I know that I would love to live somewhere sunny sometimes during rainy Oregon days.

So be warned! If you ever take a trip into Oregon, you’ll discover that we Oregonians have a slight obsession with our state. I don’t mind. Why do you think I live in Oregon?

P.S. : Oregon is not that hard to say. You say it like an organ in your body. Not OrYgun, not OrAgan. The only time you’ll see Oregonians saying it differently is when they’re making fun of other saying the name wrong, or being sarcastic.

P.P.S: This is completely true about Portland:

Also, plaid seems to be the uniform of Oregon. Don’t ask me why.

Are you overly prideful about your state? What are some fun facts about it?

The Hidden Gems in Airports

Sometime today, I'll have boarded onto a plane to travel to far away places. Because of this, I'll have to go through the airport.

Everyone has some opinion on airports, don't they? People hate them, people get frustrated over them. In my case, I neither hate nor adore. Sure, at times they can be stressful and bothersome, but I don't have a downright hate of them.

One thing that I love about airports is the sense that all of the people in them are either coming back from or going to embark on an exciting adventure. No matter what, traveling tends to be pretty exciting. Sure, you might be going on a business trip, but it's better than having a meeting in the office, right? Some of your fellow travelers might even be taking the leap into one of their most amazing experiences yet, one that will change the rest of their lives.

Of course there's always stress. What if you forget your ticket, your passport, etc? What if you miss your flight? What if you're randomly selected for a more advanced security screening? There are quite a few things that could help color your hair to a lovely shade of grey. Is it worth it? Depends on where you're traveling to, I suppose.

Finally, one of the last things that makes airports interesting is people watching. I wish I looked more exciting whenever I go traveling, but I usually end up wearing whatever is going to make the most space in my suitcase. Which means a sweatshirt and my tennis shoes. I wish I could dress chic like the book Classy says I should, but I'd rather have room for more clothes on my trip. Still, with a lot of the folks in not the cutest clothes, you get some interesting people watching in. High-tension can shed a new light on people, sometimes a highly entertaining light. Plus, watching what other people do while they wait is fun. What are they reading? Did they just come back from somewhere incredible?

Yes, airports aren't always the most amazing places. However, you can make your time there better if you just think about the destination.

What do you think about airports?

I Must Have Put My Head Around Here Somewhere...

My head has come completely unscrewed from my body. I'm simply having a difficult time remembering anything, and this has not been a good thing.
Case in point? My I.D. is missing. And it's come at a terribly incovenient time.
You see, I'm about to go on a lovely little vacation for spring break, and having something that says I'm at least eighteen is quite necessary.
After a freakout (or many), we've figured out what to do instead and are just getting ready for tomorrow. There's nothing to do about it now.
Really, the thing that stresses me out the most is how hard I've been working on being responsible, and then this happens. I hope that it's just post-finals wonkiness, but it's still annoying.
All I can say about my vaca is that I'm excited, despite the stress. The other aspect of it? I won't be around a computer.
So how does this work with one of my goals to post an entry everyday? I've thought that through too! You see, I've been writing up some fun little posts that will automatically be posted during my time away. Yes, they are very random, but they were fun to write.
Well, it's time for me to finish up packing. I'll catch y'all later!

What's an important thing that you've lost?

Just a Little Bit of Irish in Me

Truthfully, there's not a drop of Irish blood in my body. Happy St. Patty's Day everyone!

You'd think being in college, I would take full advantage of the spirit of this holiday. Strangely enough, this has been one of my least eventful St. Patrick's Days ever. I didn't even end up wearing green until putting on a tank top this evening. I suppose this is what happens when you don't have your phone on you, having no way to get in contact with the people around.  I ended up working for my mom today. Woo, feeling the Irish spirit! Aw yeah.

Since it's St. Patrick's Day, ought to get into the spirit right? There are a few interesting aspects of the holiday that many people like to celebrate.

A large percentage of people enjoy this holiday due to the fact they can sip on a cheery green brew. There are other that enjoy partaking in other activities based on st.Patrick's day. You can have fun green outfits, fun green foods, and an excuse to say your ancestry is that of the Irish kind.

I always like to have any reason to dress up, so I like trying to make a cute green outfit.

What's your favorite aspect of the holiday?

Finishing Up Finals

Hello everyone! It's officially spring break in my book. By that, I mean I am done with all of my finals.

One of my biggest things that I had to do was finish my costume final project, which was what I posted pictures of yesterday. I ended up doing more work for it than necessary... but at least it turned out nicely! Better to have done too much than not enough, yes?
Overall, I think that finals all turned out quite nicely. And if not... well, nothing else I can do now.

Today just zoomed by, which is why this post is late... I'm still counting it as my yesterday post.

I managed to get everything packed up, drove down to the hometown... and ended up leaving my phone at school. Dangit! Ah well.

I suppose that's all I really have to say for the night. Have a lovely evening!

How's everyone's week going?

Finals

Oh man. I just now remembered that I hadn't done my blog post for the day. I've been busy with finals stuff. Here's what I've been up to, pretty much:

...Yeah. I'm sure I'll be much more though provoking tomorrow.

If anyone out there is having finals, good luck. For the rest of you, hope life is treating you well!

Happy Pi Day and Things I Have Learned from Fictional Characters

I can't believe that it's already so late! That's what happens when the time changes, and it's still bright out, isn't it?

First of all, happy pi day everyone! Unfortunately, I did not have any pie for the occasion. Oh well.

For a Things I Have Learned From Fictional Characters today, I'd like to take a look at something I've learned from a Harry Potter character. It was bound to happen people. This lesson comes from Neville Longbottom, who happens to be my favorite character from the HP series.

Today's lesson: It's okay to stand up against your friends.

If you've ever read/watched the first Harry Potter, you've seen the scene where Harry and the gang sneak out in the middle of the night to go save the day and all of that, when they come up against Neville. Neville, trying to be a good kid, tries to make sure they don't pass. It's after hours, and they could all get in trouble. It doesn't help him in the moment, but at the very end of the movie he gets credited for doing a good job.

I've discovered that this idea actually makes a lot of sense. The thing is, sometimes people don't stand up to their friends. They do whatever their friends want whatever their friends tell them to, all of that. That makes you think: Are they really your friends if they don't want to know your opinions? Friends should feel comfortable stating their opinions around friends. Besides, you don't want to have friends that have the exact same opinions as you. You would run out of things to talk about!

So tell your friends how you really feel. That way, you can find out if your friends are actually interested in the same things instead of just doing what they want you to do.

Well, I need to sign off for the night. I've been drawing character renderings for most of the day... ugh.

Good night!

Daylight Savings and Epic Meal Time

I can't believe how close finals are! I know that I've been hoping for them to get here as soon as possible, but now that they're here, I don't feel ready!

This morning clocks around the world sprung forward, making sleep schedules everywhere a little more off. I ended up waking up at 8... huh.

With waking up a couple hours earlier than expected, you would have expected me to be super productive with those two extra hours, right? ...Well, instead I ended up watching last night's SNL and Epic Meal Time videos.

Epic Meal Time is... there are no words to describe it. Here's just one of the Epic Meals:

I think I get heart palpitations from just watching it... but at least they're eating it, not me!

I've been getting so distracted today though. I'm ready for tomorrow, but not completely ready for Tuesday. My distractions of choice lately have been videos. Sometimes it's videos, other times my distraction of choice are blogs.

The computer is turning off after this! Back to writing notes!

What are your biggest distractions?

Saturday Productivity and Finals Week

My productivity for the day has been better than other Saturdays. Note that I wasn't the most productive ever, but still there was a good chunk of being productive. All right!

Since finals are here, everyone's been talking about when their finals are, what classes they have finals more, and all of that. In my finals schedule, I'm done by Wednesday afternoon. I'm pretty glad about that, but one of my things due on Wednesday is also a final project.

Now, as far as finals week goes, I think I prefer to have tests more than projects. Yes, there might be a little more stress with the final exams, but they are done in an hour or two. With final projects, the work stretches out for a long time, and it's always looming over your head.

That's all on my mind for tonight. Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Do you prefer final exams or final projects?

Looming Final Projects, Walking and Simple Savings

It may be the weekend, but all I can really think about it the impending final projects that could make or break my grade... Hooray!

While on the subject of final projects, I've been beginning to notice something interesting that happens to me. When I'm sitting at my desk in the room alone, I tend to get distracted easily. Then, as soon as my room mate comes in and starts hanging out, I become motivated to work. It's crazy how much more motivation I have when someone is watching me.

Having no official workout planned for the day, I felt like doing some sort of movement was necessary. So, off on a walk I went! I walked to the store in the nearby town to cash cans, and then came to the realization that it takes forever to walk places. Goodness.

The main objective of my walk was to cash some cans. Even though I didn't make much, it was still good exercise, no wasting of gas, and I was able to put more change into this guy:

I'm not sure if I mentioned it or not, but awhile ago I went to a hall activity entitled something along the lines of "Making Green with Ham." The whole idea was to make a piggy bank, and maybe say something about how you save money. From that, I sort of expected to decorate a piggy bank but instead made this little thing. Now, whenever I have change it goes directly into the Travel Fund.

In you go!
You might not be able to tell, but on the Travel Fund are doodles that represent places I'd like to visit. I also put a little bit of cash in there each month, hoping to save up for something exciting. Every little coin counts!

Maybe someday?
Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

What do you save money towards?

Running, Napping, and Safety

It's almost the weekend, and seeing how finals are coming up I'm not sure how I feel about that. Ooh boy.

This has been one weird week. Last night I managed to get to bed a half hour earlier than my usual, but I was so drowsy this afternoon I dozed off for a 45 minute impromtu power nap. It wasn't really the most expected thing, seeing as I was going to go for a run. The room mate walked in to see me drooling in my bed wearing a full workout outfit. This includes having my tennis shoes on. Let me repeat that: I fell asleep on my bed in tennis shoes. What is this?

Afterwards, I was able to get a pretty wicked run in. Running more miles than expected, but not feeling super sore from it? Aw yeah.

The times that I enjoy runs the most are when I start daydreaming about situations, scenarios, and making plans. On today's run, that meant going back to a daydreaming topic that I think about frequently. The question I ask myself is what I would talk about if I was a guest on Chelsea Lately.

...It ends up being a discussion on things that I'm interested in. And not being famous for reasons like Kim K.

One thing that sometimes comes up when I talk about running with people is safety. I've had some family members get uneasy when they hear about my adventures outside, worrying about people coming after me. Luckily, I know that where I run is really safe. No high crime rates, areas where people can see me. I also make sure that I run with my phone and identification, for the worst case scenarios. However like they always say, one can never be too careful. With this in mind, I received a certain gift from my mother: Pepper spray.
Now, I know that it's a good thing to have, but there's only one problem. I keep on forgetting it. Really, what's the use then? Thankfully, I keep remembering it earlier and earlier, so perhaps next time I will actually remember it before I run. I think this will be a reminder!

Oh goodness. Not ready for next week, and it's coming too soon! Night everyone!

What precautions do you take when exercising?

How One Learns and Choosing Your Type of Exercise

Wow, it seems that this is one of the first Wednesdays that isn't a complete stress attack in quite some time! Good deal, good deal!

I hope everyone else is having a pleasant day as well. Perhaps the joyful rays of sun are making me think of the positives as I write this post. Other than that, I've been struggling in my classes this week. For instance, this morning I got major test anxiety from a quiz in history, and completely bombed it. Honestly, I came to a realization from that test.
I am awesome at essay questions. I am terrible at knowing specific facts. Sure, I can spout out random bits of information, but not at the necessary times. That is what today has taught me.

In other news, I have been so sore since Monday evening! I decided that I wanted to try a workout that I saw in the recent Fitness, thinking that it would be a breeze. Yeah... definitely not the case. I felt so weak! We'll just see how it works.

Speaking of exercise, I always think it's interesting what types of exercise people prefer. Personally (As you probably already knew), running is my exercise of choice. I like that the faster the go, the father you go. I also enjoy the fact you can just daydream while running.

One exercise that I haven't been able to get into? Spinning. Spinning is another one of those exercises that the rest of the blogging world seems to adore, but it's simply not for me. I get bored, and my rear hurts. I have the same idea with biking.

People try to do exercises that they don't really like, just because it'll get them into a size they like. If you don't like the exercise, you're less likely to do it! When you work out, try a lot of different exercises and see what you like. I wouldn't spend my time spinning all of the time if I would rather be running.

That's all I have to say for the night, so I bid you adieu!

What's your favorite type of exercise? Least favorite?

Peculiar Side Effects and Ending Thoughts

Mrr. Tuesdays.

Surprisingly, I've still been feeling really tired from the lack of sleep during the weekend. I was hoping that getting the regular amounts of sleep during the week would stop the sleepiness, but my body knows what's up.
"Hey! Don't act like I forgot that you stayed up past your normal sleeping time this weekend! I know that you didn't sleep in to accommodate! Goodness!"

Lack of sleep has affected my running, strangely enough not how you would expect. Today on my run, my legs were moving... but my eyes started to droop! It was like I was a drowsy driver!

Now, as far as the rest of the day has gone, I'm getting to the point of exasperation with classes. Perhaps it is because I've been hyped up for Spring break for so long, but classes are starting to become simply annoying. For some of my classes, the teachers simply don't know what else to do. They're throwing us information that isn't going to be used for anything. As for some classes, I'm just getting annoyed because I've done all I can, and things aren't changing. Meh.

Perhaps this is just my impatience catching up with me. I'm glad that there only about a week and a half until Spring Break! Woohoo! Plus, there's new Glee and Raising Hope on tonight, and that's always a positive.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Do you have Spring Break coming up soon?

Not One to Wait

"Just like the sands in a hourglass... These are the days of our lives."

My grandma and my aunt are obsessed with that show. The line always makes me smirk. Has nothing to do with my day, but I suppose it was something to break the ice.

We all have different ways of getting to our ending point. There are some out there who don't care how long something takes, but just go with the flow of the trip. Then there are others... like me.

I have the personality in which I'm always trying to finish things so I can see what's next. This is the main reason that exercises like Yoga don't work for me. Staying in a pose for how long? C'mon, what's the next step? This is a big reason why I like running. The faster I run, the sooner I get to my destination. Besides, then I'm also getting faster, which is nice no matter what type of person you are.

The reason this was on my mind was because of what I was doing this afternoon, while hanging out in the common area. I was organizing my required credits, seeing how many more I had left. I happily discovered that I could finish them up the fall term of my Sophomore year, (excluding the rest of the science to finish up the rest of that year). One of my hall mates said,
"But the sooner you get done, the sooner you'll have to figure out a major."

...Yeah. I've been thinking about that one too, but my 'let's get it done' attitude has been pushing in front.

I'm not impatient. I'll wait in lines calmly. However, I like to have that feeling of accomplishing something, you know?

Pish, I'll figure it out when the time comes. And if not? That's life!

Are you more of a go with the flow type or a finish it up ASAP type?

Old Lady Sleeping Habits and Figuring Out Time

People, I have got to say something.

I am probably the most old-lady version of a college student.
You know how the other day I don't function well without sleep? Well, I've been making sure I've been in that state of spaciness for a few days.
Staying up late, waking up early... Probably not the best idea. Eh, tonight will end up being an early one.

Time is a strange thing. Earlier today the room mate and I were talking about how shocking it is that it's already almost the end of the winter term. It's already March! Some of our other hall mates commented how this term seemed to go on a lot longer than the fall term, but we both thought the complete opposite. Why is it that time tends to feel different for everyone despite the fact that we all receive time in the same increments?
Well, they weren't freshmen either. Does that add into the equation of time passing by quickly? It could. I mean, we've been experiencing so many different situations in this year,

Another thing that has been passing through my mind is how time works with plans. Sometimes we are giving more time than we know what do to with, but then there are the times where everything gets piled up, and there was no time to get it done earlier.

As much as I'd like to have life to be perfectly organized, I know that there's no way that can happen. I can't control time. I can't control other people. One must simply go with the flow of life.

Welp, those are my thoughts for the day. Therefore, let Dead week begin!

People of the past revisited

Evening everyone! How's life treating you?

Last night I saw some people from my hometown... and many of them I didn't recognize. Even though it hasn't even been a year, it feels like it's been ages since I've actually spent time with the people of my town. Strangely enough, it makes me realize how little it doesn't bother me not seeing all of the people from my school. Sure, there are a few people who matter, but you know what? My classmates weren't as special as I thought.
Good thing: being told, "You are gorgeous."
Not so good thing: being told that comment by someone slightly induced with a mouth full of chew.
Just... ick.

Tonight, not much going on. We just don't know what to do! Blah.

How close were you to your classmates before graduation and then after?

Guilty Pleasures and Cleaning Up Online

It's Friday Night! Alright!

People of the world, I have a confession to make. Lately I've been enjoying the guilty pleasure that is Perez Hilton.

One of the things that I think is kind of curious about Perez Hilton is how he talks yet still is known as a credible source. Many of his posts you see him say things like, "LOL! So sexie!" of "Omg SO SAD!" When one thinks about credible sources, they don't usually type in chat speak.

Anyway, I've been reading Perez to get news on pop culture. I feel like I need to be informed if I'm interested in working with pop culture maybe someday.
...Although I just skip over the Charlie Sheen articles. I was over it before it even started.

Today I decided to do some cleaning, but it wasn't the type of cleaning you would expect. I hopped around the web and cleaned up my past. You see, I've had many different usernames on different websites, and I've decided that I want to have nothing online that could be odd for something to find. Paranoid? Sure, but at least I don't have things for a boss to even question me about. I used to have a Tumblr, but now it's gone. I haven't used it in ages, so why have it? I'd rather have my online reputation be not about a failed attempt at a journal comic.
I'm going to try to start making a more professional name for myself online... but I'm still not sure how.

Well, I'm off for the night. I hope everyone has a lovely evening!

What's one of your online guilty pleasures?

Social Distractions.

Thank god it's Thursday? Why, yes, I do believe so.

Today has been a day full of distractions. Granted, it's not really a bad thing. Social distractions can be fun if you don't really have things to do the next day.

That brings us to here. Here I am, quickly typing out a post before the clock strikes midnight. Why? Because of distrations. Personally, I don't mind. I'll leave you guys be as I watch Pulp Fiction.

Have a good night!

The Ability to Function Based on Sleep, and Unexpected Actions From Valley Girl Types

Woowhee. I always know when it's Wednesday.

As far as my first year of college has gone, I've been able to have a pretty routine schedule of sleep. For both of my first two terms, I've had Monday through Thursday classes at 8:00 in the morning. Because of this, I tend to go to sleep at 11:00 pm on the nights before those classes. I'll admit that I don't roll like most college students roll, staying up all night and functioning on two hours of sleep. The thing is though, I can't function on that much sleep. If I don't get around seven to eight hours, I get cranky. I doze off. I simply can't function well!
I know, perhaps I should work on being able to function on little sleep. Alas, it really hasn't been necessary. Surprisingly enough, I have somehow been able to budget my time well enough to not have to stay up much past my personal curfew.

Today was not a good example of this though. A certain project took so long I ended up getting into the shower at 10:30 PM.
Strangely enough, my 8:00 AM class is cancelled tomorrow. I may be staying up an hour later, but I'm going to get an hour more of sleep in. Precise planning or a funny coincidence? You decide.

While drying my hair, one of my hallmates came into the bathroom. She was one of the girls who looks valley girl perfect, you know what I mean? Tall, skinny, blond? Having someone like that walk past you is kind of intimidating. You start thinking, "Why is she all perfect? Why am I not like that?" Anywho, back to my point. While thinking about the comparison game, she passed by me, went to the bathroom... and didn't wash her hands.
Personally? I find that disgusting. I almost yelled out to her, "GIRL, you better come back here and wash your hands ya nasty!" Just goes to show you that you can't judge a book by its cover... actually, is that the right analogy? I say it fits for now.

...The titles of my posts are becoming more and more ridiculous. Pish, I find them entertaining.

I'm so glad that the week is almost over! Spring break is so close, I can almost feel the rays of sun beaming down on my face.

How do you function without sleep?

The Lacklusterness of Tuesdays and Not the Best Motivator

Hello everyone! How has your Tuesday been?
The last two days seem to have flown by for me. The days have felt very fast... but it's still only Tuesday. It's the opposite effect of last week where the day felt long, but the week was short.

So yesterday as I said, I tried out for something. The something was another school play but alas... I did not receive a callback. It stinks yeah, but what can you do. The thing is, I didn't do that badly. Sure I wasn't the perfect shining star, but I did okay. I have to say, I'm getting better every time.
However, I didn't think about that when my sister laughed at me saying, "Well I guess we know that's not your forte."
Sure, I know she meant it jokingly. Plus, maybe it's not my best talent. But I do not like to have my interests laughed at and completely shot down.
Let's be honest. There's probably no way I could make a career out of acting. But can't I have a hobby? Pish. Besides, the only way I could get better is by try, trying again.

Ranting aside, it's been kind of an eh day. Nothing too exciting, nothing out of the ordinary. It's a Tuesday. Has it ever been the day of epic occurances? (Other than my birth. I feel like my tuesdays should be greater due to that one aspect.)

I feel like I'm back in my winter break funk of not knowing what to write. Writer's block? Perish the thought!

Has your Tuesday had any epic occurances?
