Random Thoughts and Goals for December

Before we get started, I'm just gonna toss out a few things on my mind.
  • I'm getting an allergy test tomorrow, to see if it's true that I can't have shrimp. I hope it's not. I love shrimp, I don't want it to hurt me.
  • For the last two days, I've had the lyrics "An elephant never forgets, so my dick remembers everything" stuck in my head. Yeah. I like the song "Freaks and Geeks" by Childish Gambino, although all I can think is, "Silly Troy, why are you rapping?"
  • I got accepted to be a member of APO! Yah! I did all of the stuff, so it was kind of expected but still. Huzzah!
  • Why is it that I can't bake small things? I always burn the bottoms. I never have this problem with loaves. Sure, the rest of it is fine but burnt bottoms are never fun. I ended up scraping off the bottoms of some Chocolate chip scones so they're acceptable to give away.
  • It's my mother's birthday! Happy birthday mom, love ya! Thanks for raising me to be mostly normal.
  • This week has been Dead Week, and it's actually been surprisingly dead for me. I have a paper to edit for Friday but other than that... classes have been reviewing stuff. I know that a lot of the people are doing projects this week, but I also think that they have less to do during finals week. I do have three finals...
Are we good? We're good. Anywho, what I wanted to talk about today are goals. I see bloggers always posting their goals, and it seems like a good way to stay on track. They say that it takes 21 days to form a habit. Or is it 28? Whatever. All I'm saying is that it's time I make monthly goals.
I'll admit, I actually did have a goal for November, and I stuck to it pretty well. It was:
  • Eat 2 servings of fruits and 2.5 servings of veggies
  • Only one serving of cooked veggies a day
  • Only one dried fruit for a fruit serving per day
Other than Thanksgiving where everyone has plates of tan and white, I did quite well on this! I ate salad, and I even got back into grapes! I used to not like grapes because I'd always grab the bunch with the gross squishy ones. It tainted my memory of grapes.

Now that we're starting December (!) it's time to work on a new goal. I actually have two things to work on this month. First, is to track my computer time and cut way back. I've talked about my obsession with the computer, and it's horrendous. The thing is, I never actually see how much time I spend on it. I think if I track computer use, it'll make me want to spend less time on it because of all of the shame I will feel.

My other goal is to not spend money on soda or gum. Now, this is kind of cheap since I'm going to probably spend a good chunk of time at my parents' house (which is always stocked with some sort of diet soda). However, I'll push this through January as well. Gum and soda? I should not waste money on you. Even if you are delicious. The biggest problem I have with this though is that I like having some sort of flavor in my mouth at all times. Yeah, that sounds dirty. Due to this, I tend to munch more when I don't have something occupying my taste buds with zero calories. Guh.

I think it'll be good just to have two goals per month, because it's easier to work your way up. At least that's what I'm hoping will happen.

I don't want to go to classes anymore. I want it to be winter break now. Can we arrange that, with me still getting good grades in my classes? No? Boo.

Do you have any goals for December?

Strugglebus and Being The President

Having a day off really messes with your mind. I keep thinking that it's Tuesday, and clearly it's not.

Speaking of that, I've been a strugglebus for this whole week. I realize you may not know what strugglebus means. It's a phrase created by my sister and one of my aunts to express that you are... well, struggling. Such as things that shouldn't take much effort are extremely difficult. The phrase is based on buses and cars that you see that look like they're barely able to putt along the road. This week has definitely been a strugglebus week. I stayed up late on Monday night to finish an assignment, and I haven't really gotten that sleep back. Also, I may be getting sick. Not a good thing.

Today I've been thinking about politics and such, mainly because we talked about it in one of my classes. There was another reason why, but I don't quite remember. Now, I'm not here to talk about political views, arguments, and all of that. I'm not really in the mood for argument or debate. What I do want to talk about is the President. I'm not just talking about the current president, I'm talking about the job of being a president.

When I was younger, I thought that being president would be an extremely amazing job. I remember reading So You Want To Be a President?, thinking, "Yes! Yes I do want to be president!" However, as I've gotten older, I've realized that being president would be a terrible job. I have two main reasons why.

Reason one? No matter how hard you try, no matter how many things you do, there will always be a group of people who hate you. I don't think I can ever think of a president who is an exception to this rule, and I don't expect to. You see, any party you are a part of is against another party. Well, duh but this leads to the point that there's always a group from the opposing side that doesn't like your face. Actually, they might like your face, but not what you stand for.

Reason two? First of all, you know that new POTC movie that's out? (which I saw last weekend). Anyway, the story is about the Fountain of Youth. Presidency is the complete opposite of that.
Perhaps you've heard the stories of terrible stress that many of the presidents have gone through. I want to say it's Eisenhower that was photographed in the war room with his head hanging low (I could be wrong, I'm not very good at remembering presidents), due to the stress caused by the war. Along with at least one group of people hating you, the president has a lot of stress to deal with. War, money, laws, all of that jazz. Much of the population might believe that the president has a lot more power than he actually has. Really, there are a lot of people all around him that make decisions about what's going down.
Anywho, about the aging thing? If you look at Obama at the beginning of his term, and where he is now... it's really depressing. I'd show pictures, but I can't find any good examples.

Therefore, as I've grown up I've had my political dreams crushed. In all actuality, the president can do some pretty great things. The president can bring hope, can affect the people emotionally... There's more that presidents can do obviously, but as I have very little knowledge in politics, I can't think of any good specifics.

That's what I've been thinking about today! Also, another fort was made in the hall. This time it was for a contest. We were the honorable mention. Meh. Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Would you ever want to be President? Why or why not?

Dead Week, Packing, Clothes, and Remembering Where it All Began

So it's Tuesday? Yeah, I suppose so.

Dead Week really is dead. My interactions with others have shown me how ready everyone is to be done with school. I am too, but I'm also trying to figure out classes for the summer... not sure what the best plan is. Should I go here for summer classes, which would be cheaper class wise but involve a lot of driving? Or take it where there would be less driving, no extra help and it goes for longer into the summer. I'm leaning towards the classes I'm already signed up for, but perhaps that might change. Who knows.

What was I talking about again? Oh right, Dead Week!

I've been packing away my life, which includes trying to figure out what clothes are good to pack. My realization? I am not good at packing away clothes, because I can't figure out which outfits I want to save! Goodness, I'm such a stereotypical girl. I love my clothes, what can I say?
One of the biggest problems I'm trying to think about are weather issues. This week is supposed to be raining all week. Next week is supposed to be extremely sunny. Oh Oregon.

The effects of clearing out my room are finally starting to show up, and it's really weird. I'm getting flashbacks to the very beginning of the school year, when everything was fresh and new. Oh room, despite having some problems you will be missed.

I've been chewing gum again since yesterday. Bah.

How do you decide on outfits to pack/wear for non vacation/ non everyday purposes?

Peculiar Side Effects and Ending Thoughts

Mrr. Tuesdays.

Surprisingly, I've still been feeling really tired from the lack of sleep during the weekend. I was hoping that getting the regular amounts of sleep during the week would stop the sleepiness, but my body knows what's up.
"Hey! Don't act like I forgot that you stayed up past your normal sleeping time this weekend! I know that you didn't sleep in to accommodate! Goodness!"

Lack of sleep has affected my running, strangely enough not how you would expect. Today on my run, my legs were moving... but my eyes started to droop! It was like I was a drowsy driver!

Now, as far as the rest of the day has gone, I'm getting to the point of exasperation with classes. Perhaps it is because I've been hyped up for Spring break for so long, but classes are starting to become simply annoying. For some of my classes, the teachers simply don't know what else to do. They're throwing us information that isn't going to be used for anything. As for some classes, I'm just getting annoyed because I've done all I can, and things aren't changing. Meh.

Perhaps this is just my impatience catching up with me. I'm glad that there only about a week and a half until Spring Break! Woohoo! Plus, there's new Glee and Raising Hope on tonight, and that's always a positive.

Hope everyone has a lovely evening!

Do you have Spring Break coming up soon?

Essays, One Acts and Running Reputations

Dear blog world,

Please write my English essay for me. An A would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Love, Me.

This English essay has been looming over my head since I got the assignment, and I am not excited about it. Strangely enough this essay is what is freaking me out the most. Finals? Psh, I have that covered. I've learned how to study right. Essays? Woo boy. Not my forte. My mind likes to pretend that I'm a better writer than is true, but my subconcious knows I'm pretty average. I'm strangely pumped for College Writing next term just so I can become a better writer. Due Thursday. Have about 1/3 written out... maybe 1/4. Now that I'm done with my other essay, this is my main focus.

Met for the One Act again tonight. We've got rehersals every night this week now. Scary? Perhaps, seeing what I mentioned in the paragraph above. Rehersals will only be about an hour each, so it should be fine. I'm just nervous that we do it on Sunday!

Last thing for the night to mention is about running, because for some reason I always have to say something about it. I ran today instead of yesterday, which was kind of weird. A funny thing about running is when you talk to other people about your running. For instance, let's look at my running schedule. I run usually Tuesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday and Sunday. Only one of those runs is a long run and the other runs go from 4-5 miles. When I see family members, it's after I've ran my long run. This gives the illusion that I run these long runs every day, or multiple times. Maybe you don't but sometimes ignorance is bliss and you can feel like a cocky son of a gun in front of other people. Just sayin'. Besides, you're still doing freakin' long runs.

Boo. Need to get things ready for tomorrow and work on the essay more. Bleah.

How do you write a good essay?
