Making Decisions

I am a very indecisive person. I don't know how, but I think I've gotten more indecisive as I've gotten older.
You might think that being indecisive means that I don't like planning things out. Obviously, this isn't true as I've talked about the many ways I like to organize my life. I don't know how these two things work together, but they do. It happens. Although I'm indecisive, I'll usually speak up if no one can make up their mind for what to do. "I dunno, what do you want to do?" only gets you so far. I dealt with that crap for far too long in high school.

This indecisiveness comes more with choices than actually taking action. Take restaurants for example. I almost always want to try something new, but I can never decide just what I want. What taste is my tongue craving for the evening? What if I make the wrong decision? Common sense would tell my brain that this is not a life or death situation, but common sense does not exist when it comes to a restaurant menu.

I have gotten many death glares from my sister because of this trait. On the opposite side of the spectrum, my sister is extremely decisive. She knows what she wants. She knows what she likes. And she wants the meal as soon as possible, which doesn't work with my indecisive ass.
I hate to make a waiter wait. It's rude. That's why I always say, "Come to me last." Because I base my choice on what others get. I choose something different, so we can trade tastes. Usually, the people I eat with are on the same sharing page as I am, which is always nice.

The point is if I only get once chance to try something, it takes time for me to make a decision. Because I've got a bad case of the "What ifs?".

This all brings me to a notebook. A notebook? Yes, a notebook.

Remember that little notebook that I write things to do with my life in? Well, I have one. Or I should say had one, because that little sucker got filled up. I needed a new notebook, but what kind to get? The notebook would be with me for awhile, so it has to be just right.
You know how I talked about indecisiveness? I went to the bookstore at least five times comparing different notebooks. The size, the writing space, the prices, the looks... Ridiculous, I know. However in the end I got my notebook and it's quite lovely.

Yup. It looks a bit yellow because of the light, but it's a nice shade of blue. May I take on many adventures.

Are you indecisive or very decisive?

Double Booking Meetings

Do you ever find yourself in an extremely comfortable position, and you simply don't want to move? Right now, I'm feeling that way about a corner in my room next to the heater and a pillow. Damn the overhead light being so far away.

At times, it feels like all of your priorities are happening at the same time. The rest of the time you're completely free, but when it comes to that specific time, everything has to be happening.

That's how my campus involvement is going. Currently, I've been going to the Alpha Phi Omega meetings and University Film Organization meetings. They are both Wednesday evenings.
Surely, this normally wouldn't be a big deal. However, while at the UFO meeting (yeah), I heard about another club that sounded interesting... with meetings on Wednesday.

I have every other afternoon free. What's the deal with Wednesdays?

Well that's all of what's on my mind for the evening. I just want it to be the weekend so I can sleep.

Do many of your commitments happen on the same days? Or are they nicely spread out?

The Pace Makes the Runner?

What pace makes a runner different from a jogger? Apparently an eight minute mile pace does. Does that sound a bit ridiculous to you? Yeah, me too.

Today I received an email regarding the running club that I had signed up to get info about. I was excited, especially after all of the things I had heard about it. Pace didn't matter, a lot of people were there just to have fun. Within this email though, it said and I'm paraphrasing only slightly:
"We are a group of runners, not joggers. We would like to have those with an eight minute mile pace or less inquire only, because anyone slower will not have anyone to run with."

I definitely don't run an eight minute mile. Think a minute more, on a good day. I don't think of myself as a jogger, but according to this email, I am. So that's been on my mind for the day.

The chaos of school is finally starting to settle down it seems. I'm glad. Honestly, I've been up to a lot of stuff. (Strangely enough, it didn't feel like I was up to much today but I probably got a lot more done than usual.)

Let's start off with cooking. I'm working from being a lousy cook to slowly becoming a mediocre cook. Sure, I probably didn't cook my chicken right last week but at least it's been edible. I also made a frittata.

Seemed scary, but surprisingly simple. My spinach did wilt a little too much though. Ah well.

The next thing I've been up to is getting information about groups. You saw how well the running club thing went, but I'm also getting info about something I didn't think I'd ever try ever: Triathlon.
I know. I bitch and moan about biking, and I'm slower than drying paint. Still, I've been getting some encouragement to try it, and talking to one of the guys in the club made it seem like I could learn. He was just a runner himself at first, and he admitted he was still bad at it. Confidence booster? Perhaps.

Lastly is organization. I've finally got a single notebook for each subject. Sad, huh? My notes have been organized, my planner is looking especially plan-y, and my homework list is up. Basically, I'm finally getting my junk all together. I like that feeling.

Geez, I'm starting to sound more and more diary-like each day. We'll work on that. For now, I've got to make sure I actually know the information I need to for a quiz tomorrow.

Do you think speed makes the runner a runner? Why or why not?

Refresh, Studying, Professors and Daydreaming

I'd just like to take a moment to say let's skip over last night's post of venting and move on. Goodness, I don't even want to go back and read my 14-year old inner emo kid writing. I just needed to vent I suppose.

Today, I have just taken some time to chill out. I've also taken the time to avoid studying for my Public Speaking midterm to do some serious drawer organizing. Behold!

You may say, "So what, folding clothes?" To which I say, "No it's ART!"
Yes, they are lovely. But I have gotten on the studying, and hope to do well on my midterm tomorrow.

Teachers are an interesting breed. There are some teachers that many people love, while another group can't stand that teacher. There is one habit that some teachers have that I cannot stand, which one of my current professors possesses. The best way I can put it is she acts like I'm a puppy who happened to get bonked on the head. To that I say NO. If you want to challenge my intelligence, just flat out say it. Don't baby me. Some people may prefer that, but not me.

I want to do something theatre-y lately. I think since my Costume class is in the Auditorium, it's making me crave that type of thing.

As for careers, today I was thinking about how interesting it could be to be a personal assistant to a movie star. Of course, when I think about it I create basically a sitcom-y scenario with a kooky star. Then they have silly, fun adventures. ...I can pretend, right?

Well, I suppose I should study for my test more. Ta ta for now!

What type of teacher do you prefer?

Generalizations and Organization

We meet again beginning of the week. Thankfully, this week shouldn't be as crazy as last week though.

It feels like every time I start writing up a post, one of the things I talk about is how I've been noticing something, or just realized something. The fact is, I think I just notice something new everyday! Ah, the little simple joys that are in life.
I say that because I've realized something else interesting that I tend to do, and I think a lot of other people do it too. I seem to generalize people a lot, but I've realized just how different everyone really is. Okay, let me explain: You see a group of people, and you know little facts about them such as Tim plays basketball, or Jill is an artist. Since we know basic things about them, we can try to mentally figure out things they would like, or things they would never dream of participating in. But you know what? People are surprising. Take me: I really adore clothes, pop culture and movies, yet I will freak out during a football game. Would you expect that out of me? Of course not, but you would never know unless you asked. We always assume people won't like things because you think they seem like this or that, and that's nowhere near anything they would like. I know we're taught not to generalize, but sometimes it happens. No two people are exactly alike that's for sure. I'll try to keep this in mind when I meet new people from now on.

Okay, so I'll try not to sound like an after-school special for the rest of this post. Anywho! Today just flew by, my goodness! I seriously don't know how everything I did today took up so much time, but I did get stuff done! I've got most of my homework for Wednesday done, and I did some legit organizing. I haven't been using my planner a lot lately because I've been posting a list of work to finish for the week on my bulletin board. However, I've been screwing up date on things, so I thought it was time to find out what's in my future plans. Here's what February looks like:

Yes, not so pretty but it gets the job done. I have a huge list of things to do for the week, but I think I was able to get a chunk done today.

My first midterm of the term is Thursday... Where has the time gone?

What does your planner look like? Is it colorful and fun or plain like mine?

Going up to Seattle!

Battle in Seattle is today! I'm pumped up. If you don't know what Battle in Seattle is, it's a bus going up to Seattle, then we get to explore, then we watch our football team play Central Washington. Should be fun, especially since I don't think I've ever actually been to Seattle!
I've got everything I'm taking all packed in my little purse:
And I took some Dayquil because I don't want to be feeling icky all day. The little single pack of Dayquil I bought even had its own little drinking cup!

How bizzare! It's about time I scoot, so I'll see you all later!

How do you pack up for a day trip somewhere?
