Currently, I am not in the position to be looking for a career. I am still looking for just jobs. After I graduate though, I'm going to go into the delightful process of looking for careers. All I have to say about that is I feel sorry for my sister who is about to graduate, but that's not what I'm going to talk about. The whole point of this is that because of this, I don't need many outfits that you would call "professional". My closet consists of sundresses, sundresses, and more sundresses. Sundresses are not what you would call work attire.
As I went to a thing that I needed "business attire" for today, I got to thinking about in the future. When I do (hopefully) get a career started, I'm going to need business clothes for more than just one day. I wondered, "Well how's that going to work?"
Seriously, how does it work? Am I just going to go shopping one day and buy all of my outfits for a week? Then, repeat said outfits everyday for the rest of my life? I don't know. I haven't gotten to the real world yet.
Sure, I know that there are jobs that don't require you to dress in business attire, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to dress that way. What's proper business attire anyways these days? What's proper to wear to work?
I was also thinking about what I'll wear the rest of the time when I have a career. Will I wear the type of clothes I wear now? They might look a bit young. Or will I go into the comfy clothes phase? I really don't like wearing "comfy" clothes out in public. I feel sloppy, and that makes me feel gross. I dunno.
Speaking of my "business" attire, here's my business-y dress. Yup.
How did your clothes change once you got a career/job? What do you wear the rest of the time?

What's My Age Again?
All of my life, I've been looking to the future. What's next after this step? What should I do now to make sure my future works out all right? I constantly try to live in the moment, but the rest of my mind gets caught up in what could be next. With the constant worrying about the future, I think about things like career and how I'm going to take care of myself one day.
My futuristic look isn't only through my life, I tend to connect with those "living in the future" for a lack of a better way to say it. It feels like I've always been drawn to groups older than me. The people I hung out with during this year at school were mostly juniors. I've found more similarities with my sister's friends than people from my grade. That tends to be kind of the case online as well.
It seems that much of the blogging world consists of females who are in the last years of college or older. In many of the blogs that I read, people are getting married, buying their first homes, getting real jobs, all that jazz. When reading about that type of stuff, I start to think about how far behind I must be. Then I realize: Hell, I'm only 19! I've got a lot of time to do stuff like that. It just feels like I should be getting it done now, you know?
That's just the thing. I'm still a kid. I still refer to my parent's house as my house. I still have a messy room. I'm still fairly young despite how crotchety I may act sometimes.
And sure, it's great to think about the future, but I know I gotta loosen up a little! Take the plunge on random experiences. It's all about once again living a happy medium.
Well that's my recent epiphany. Just had to get that out of my head. Other than that, I'm going hiking tomorrow morning. I don't really hike. We'll see how that turns out!
Do you ever had trouble acting your age?

The Future Tense and the Conditional Tense
Gee, it's been awhile since I've talked about a lesson that a fictional character has taught me... but that's not going to happen today either. I simply don't have any lessons I can recall at the moment. So let's move on.4
Ah, I'm so excited that it's the last week of Spanish. After this, no more language classes ever! No more nights of piles of meaningless assignments. Lovely. Truthfully, I brought up the Spanish to talk about what we've been working on lately.
In Spanish (and English as well), there are two different types of future tenses. There's the Future Tense (duh), and the Conditional Tense. The Future tense is a tense that is used when we know that something is going to occur in the future, such as:
"I will go to the bank" or
"They will dance at the party."
For the Conditional, it's the future as well but it's what you would do in the future. It's not a for sure thing:
"They would bring it to the store tomorrow."
"I would speak to him if I could."
Why do I bring this up you ask? Well, I've simply got to wonder which version of the word is used with hopes and dreams?
Because let's think about it. Are you definitely going to become a musician when you grow up? How about how many children you're going to have? It's just a weird concept.
As for dreams and desires, I've been thinking about them a lot lately. Yeah, I need to live in the moment I know. However, with thinking about these dreams and goals, it's been making me think, "Why do we all wait and wait and wait to even think about going for our dreams?"
I use travel as my example. There are some days where I simply think, "I could just pack up some things and go on an impromptu road trip. Just me, the road, and the world." After that initial thought, reality sets in. "I have school, and a job, and how would my running schedule be affected?" We throw so many roadblocks in our way, don't we? It makes sense to think about one's responsibilities, but at the same time we don't want to be stuck, right?
All I know is that I don't want to be looking back on my life regretting how few adventures I had.
What are some goals you know you will achieve in your future? What are some goals you hope you achieve?

Wondering How Karma Works
I always say that I should write a couple of posts days before... yeah, that will probably never happen. So a quick post tonight!
All of my life, I've tried to believe in karma. If you do good things, good things will happen to you. If you end up having a really awful day, karma will make sure it adds up your good karma total, making something amazing happen in the future.
Why do I believe this? I'd like to think it's most likely because I've heard so many underdog stories in my life. "He grew up in the slums, but worked hard and now he's famous." I mean, the best example we can look at is Annie.

Well, Aladdin kind of has that message too.

| The cave... of WONDERS! I always wondered why it had an earring. |
All of that is well and good, but I've been having my doubts more and more lately.
I've seen terrible things happen to good people. I've seen amazing things happen to awful people. I always think to myself, "Karma will kick in."
But will it?
What if someone else's version of karma says you haven't been worthy of good karma, despite what you think? Like babies who die! What were they even capable of doing badly to deserve the karmic bitchslap? That's not fair at all!
I guess that karma does show its face in certain situations obviously, like when someone is being a jerk and they're called on it. Still, you never know.
Despite all of my karma bashing tonight, a little thought still creeps through my brain.
"If you do good things, good things will happen. Even if things seem tough, things will always get better."
And I could go on and on and on about this, but I seriously don't have the time.
On a final note, my sister started reading my blog tonight. So hello Chloe dear! I'll be sure to add more out of context inside jokes than usual.

Big Goals, Future Goals
So Spanish. We've been meeting for five weeks now, and it's been going pretty well hasn't it? Actually, it's been draining. I'm glad that after this summer fling, we'll part on our own paths. Because four hours of Spanish? It's not a great deal.
Thursdays are quite crazy for me. Waking up at 7:00 A.M., then getting home at 7:00 P.M? What is this, the real world? From that, you might be able to realize that I don't have many exciting stories from the day.
That does get me thinking about the real world though. I seem to have a new idea about how I should live my life every second. Should I go? Should I stay? What would be the best plan for the future? Who knows if I should worry about the future, and instead worry about the now?
Then I have a new idea on what to do with my life when I see my English muffin pop up from the toaster, making me think of some metaphor for life.
Not really, but almost.
I want to do a lot of things in life. Who doesn't? For now, I have one main goal, and that's to run the marathon in October. After that, we'll see what big goal I make next.
I'd worry about weight and such, but for now... Ugh. This training is screwing with my appetite and body weight. I think I'm getting bigger, which feels like a disappointment but then I think, "Who else other than myself cares that much about my weight?" It feels like I'm disappointing someone, but I shouldn't be stressed about it.
I'd rather stress about figuring out things I need for living next year, driving arrangements, and my race.
Long run tomorrow... Hoo boy.
What are your big goals right now?

Trying to Figure Out Live and Living in the Moment
It's Friday... Now what?
Lately I've just been thinking about stuff that need to get done. Not necessarily for the week, but in the future. I need to:
I hope everyone has a lovely evening!
Lately I've just been thinking about stuff that need to get done. Not necessarily for the week, but in the future. I need to:
- Figure out my rooming situation for next year
- Figure out how I'm going to move everything out of my dorm in three hours on the last day of school
- Calculate all of my spending for the year
- Try to see if there are other job options for the summer
- Talk to professors about missing a day of class for orientation of another school
I hope everyone has a lovely evening!
