Yesterday morning I woke up to a strange man in my kitchen.
Ha, no worries! There was a problem with our water heater, and it was leaking onto the people downstairs. Therefore, the landlord sent up a guy to fix our water heater. It was broken. I had no idea.
Funny things that have happened today: in the past hour, it's been sunny, rainy, sunny, pouring, thunder, and sunny again. Welcome to spring folks!
Recently, I've been in a fairly good mood. No reason, not even the sun. It's a weird thing to me because it seems like I should be feeling the opposite. My bike tire popped, I had a midterm, but... Neh. Not feeling bad. I just don't know. Maybe I'm happy it's almost the weekend? Who knows? I just know that I'm not in the mood to be a Debbie Downer.
Speaking of that midterm...
Today I did indeed have a midterm, and you know what? I just didn't care. Alright, that's not 100% true. I always care about tests, but...
I kind of have a confession: This Human Physiology class I'm taking is pretty much the same class I took last term, and the term before that. There's just a little more information added each time. Plus, the test was open book.
True, there was some information I couldn't figure out 100%, but I think it was okay.
I wish I loved science. I think how things work is fascinating. The human body is incredible. The universe is incredible. However, I just don't seem to care. I get terribly distracted, I start doing something else, it doesn't matter what. I'm glad I have no more science requirements after this term.
On the other side of that, I starting thinking about my English midterm in a couple a weeks. The causal thought crossed my mind: "That midterm actually might be fun..."
Um, WHAT? Who is saying these things? I don't know what the hell I was I was thinking. Right?
The thing is, I actually understand this class. I get involved with discussion, I do the readings, and the class doesn't seem to drag like all of my science classes.
Okay, probably won't be FUN. Perhaps more interesting? I dunno.
I'm so glad it's Thursday. Thursdays after class are a good thing for me because I don't have class until noon on Friday. Oh yes.
Have you ever been interested in taking a test?

Different Opinions on Giving Information
I'm both excited for the weekend and nervous. Excited for fun times with both friends and family; Not so excited for upcoming finals.
Here's a recent moment I had with my mother. I got a call from her, asking about a reference that was for my job working for her. As you know now, I got the internship that I applied for. (I'm actually going in to talk to them today) In my mind, I was going to tell her the next time I saw her, which I knew would be very soon. In my mind, when family members get together, that's when they announce new and exciting things in their life. Think of any movie where a family is having a type of reunion. In that situation, they'll say, "I got the promotion!" or "I found a new guy." Since she was asking about it though, I thought I'd say "Yeah, I got the internship" casually.
Next thing I know my mom is breaking down over the phone.
"You girls never tell me anything! It's like you don't want me in your lives!"
WHOA. Calm down! It was a storm of emotion being throw at me over the speaker. You see how I explained my vision of telling people things above? Apparently she didn't see it that way.
I find it a little bizarre that I got this reaction the more I think about it. My mom will casually throw around big news in conversation like it's no thing all of the time. She does it especially to my dad.
I also thought about how I usually tell people big information. Honestly, it takes me twenty minutes to figure out a good way to throw in the fact it's my birthday into the conversation. (Not for another seven months) Throwing out information like that casually is normal for me.
Personally, I don't think I've done anything wrong. That's my opinion.
I tried to make this sound the least amount of teen-angsty as possible, but it still sounds pretty much like that. I tried.
I had an excellent pi day yesterday, did you? I ended up worrying over nothing schedule wise, I enjoyed the company of delightful people, and discussed serious topics. For example, why cheesecake should be called cheese pie. It's made with a graham crust. Actually makes sense.
Next big thing on my to do list is Human Physiology Exam Studying! Don't know why that's all capitalized. Hm. If I do well enough on this exam tomorrow, I won't have to take the final. That will be nice, because then the only Tuesday final I'll have to worry about is economics.
On a last note, Community returns tonight! I feel like a bad fan for not watching it tonight, but I just can't. I need to keep my brain on the HPHY, but instead I'll reward myself with it after my test. Plus, I don't have a TV. So there's that.
How do you usually talk to other people about big news?

The Shopping Advice
They say you should never go shopping when you're hungry. For the most part, I usually abide by this rule. However, today I was not expecting to be ravenous at 10:30 AM. Which is why everything I passed by looked incredible while I was grocery shopping this morning.
Fun fact: I grocery shop on Wednesdays because I've heard from multiple sources that the stores are at their cheapest prices on Wednesday. Mock me if you must, but at least I don't have to deal with the weekend craziness.
The reason they say that you should never go shopping when you're hungry is because you'll make bad food decisions. Did that affect me? Well...
Yes. Just a little. However, I thought about it, and I came to this conclusion: Having a little bit of something sweet helps us from bingeing on other foods, because we can actually satisfy our craving. I'm always craving a little bit of dessert, so having a little on hand is a good thing. Plus, I know what a serving size is. A lot of people scoop way more than that. I scooped into a half cup, and enjoyed my little treat! (On a random note, scooping ice cream into a measuring cup feels ridiculous. I need one of those scoops that measures the ice cream at the same time.)
Speaking of food, recently in Human Physiology we've been talking about The Female Athlete, and eating disorders. Sure, not every female athlete has one, but it's very common in them as the talks have gone. Our professor's main point has been that currently, we're putting "money in the bank", so to speak. What that means is right now we're building up bones and muscle that will help us when we're older, or "withdrawing". The whole point of it is that if you're not adding to the bank, you're going to be out of luck when you're older. As for the female athlete, if they're not getting enough nutrients in (food), that means they might be experiencing amennorheia, and their bone density is disappearing. Not good. This section has made me eat more lately, while frantically screaming, "I need money in the bank!" in my head. The truth is, I probably haven't been fueling up enough lately for my running, and I want to be healthy in the future. And no, that doesn't mean stuffing my face with ice cream. I just need more good fuel. Honestly, I know that there are times where I should eat more, just because of how my body is reacting. It's a little worrisome.
Then again, I don't want to gain weight like crazy. Goodness, the balance is so difficult.
Huh, when did this post become so serious? I thought we were talking about ice cream. Oh well.
What is a shopping rule that you like to follow? What's a rule that you always break?
