Late Night Surprises and The Amount of Time to Graduate

What an interesting start to the day I had! I bet that no one out there had one like I did (unless they live in the same dorms), unless it involved:
  • Loud noises
  • 3AM
  • Cold morning
If somehow you came to the conclusion that my dorm's fire alarm went off at three, then you are absolutely right! Ain't that a hoot.

I guess it wasn't so bad, but really? Not super fun to be woken up randomly in the middle of the night by shrieking alarms to dash out into the cold with no shoes.

I'm starting to get to a solid idea of what I want to study, but realizing just what I want to study is getting kind of scary. It's not that I'm scared of the subject (though it will take a lot of hard work), but it's what's required in classes. I have come to the conclusion that despite trying to get a lot of classes done, I still might end up taking five years to graduate.

That scares the heck outta me.

Really, I know it shouldn't scare me. Maybe I don't feel scared, but it makes me feel shamed. Y'see, at the beginning of the year I participated in a class that stumbled upon the discussion of Generation Y, or my generation. In the class we talked about how Generation Y is taking longer to graduate, becoming more dependent on parents, moving back in with parents more often, and not as hard working. I don't want to diss my generation, but a lot of the time I feel like I don't quite fit the picture. I know that I'm a lot more dependent on my parents than I should be, but I try to be as independent as possible.
This kind of goes back to my fears I suppose. There are so many intelligent people out there, it's intimidating. I've read blogs of people who have graduated college early, I've heard stories where people get amazing scores on everything they do. I want people to look at me that way, you know? I want people to think, "Oh, what a great job she's done." Did I mention I'm hella narcissistic? Because I am. I crave attention, I can't help it.

Yeah. That's what's on my mind. Now it's time to take a shower. Late night Zumba!

How do you feel about how many years it takes to graduate?

Worries about School, Ridiculous Scenarios and Things That Moms Say

I have come to realize that Wednesdays are my busy days. Wowee. For some reason my teachers seem to think that it's a good idea to give even more work as time passes. Some teachers think they're the only ones who give homework, don't they?

Pretty much all day I worked on homework, woo hoo. Lately I've been getting the feeling that I'm reverting back to my early high school days, yet I've been doing a lot more work. You see, I did not do very well in school during my early years. It was okay, but definitely not spectacular. I just feel like all of the work I'm doing isn't adding up. I want A's, dangit! I could be worrying about it too much, but I can't help it.

All day I was stressing and working, freaking out about school and such. Then, right after stepping out of the shower, the fire alarm went off at 7:30 at night. I grabbed a coat from my room and headed outside, towel still on head and nothing underneath. Some people might think that this would tick me off, but you know what? It actually made me... cheery. It was just such a ridiculous scenario, that I couldn't help but smile. Seriously, I looked like a flasher! How goofy is that?

My mom borrowed my car today, and I talked to her for a bit. Sometimes my mom can be a funny lady. We're talking about school or something, and she stops mid sentence and says,
"Hey. Have you tried getting together with that guy?" *guy at the main desk downstairs*
"He's got a girlfriend. I know right?"
"Dang. I just saw his face and thought, 'Oh ho?' What's with this school?"

Ah, mothers. Gotta love them.

In other news, I am terrible at sewing. Anytime I go into my costume design class I feel like an idiot because for some reason, I can't work a sewing machine. I believe tomorrow will be a day of Internet teaching videos. Curse you french seams!

What goofy scenario have you been caught in recently?

Care Packages and Studying Stress

Ugh. Just... Ugh. Well, let's look at something else than ugh, shall we?

Today was my first final! One down, two to go! Truthfully I'd like them all do be done, but there's still much studying to be done! For the last one there is at least.

I received a Finals survival care package from my mom today. She had registered for it with the parent's club before school even started, so she's been talking about it for awhile, wondering why I hadn't gotten it yet. Well, I got it today!

How cute! The note next to it was the personal note that my mom wrote to me. She tends to think I don't eat enough. Honestly, the opposite came into effect today. There were just some fun little treats in there and all that jazz.

Another thing that I receive today was this little card attached to my door.

It's a letter from our RA. She posted them on everyone's doors and wrote little personalized messages in them. How sweet! I was surprised when I read mine though. She said I should really consider becoming an RA!
...Seriously? Wow. Do I seem like the RA type? I didn't think I seemed the leader-y type. Maybe one year I should think about it. Free housing right?

Our fire alarm in the building went off this morning. I now know how LOUD it is. Geezo. I was smart enough not to be wearing cold clothes before leaving the building.

I need it to be winter break, if only for being able to sleep. I ended up waking up at 6 this morning with going to bed around 12, and I don't run well on lack of sleep. I also didn't sleep well this weekend. I may have napped for about an hour this weekend, but it doesn't make up for extra hours loss.
(Also, I've kind of gotten to the breaking point of something  else, and it's beginning to make me pissy. No it's not my time of the month.)

Sorry to be a downer, but I tried to make it a bit light... Right?
The computer will be shut off after this, so some real work can be done for history! Tally ho!

Who usually sends you care packages?
