Don't you hate it when you hear someone getting in the shower just as you're getting ready to? And don't you hate it when you know the hot water only lasts for about ten minutes tops, so you have no idea how it's going to be when you get in? No, just me? Alright then. That's why I'm writing this now, instead of cleaning myself. Bleurgh.
I didn't write one of these last week, and now this thing is on Sunday? Will it ever have a permanent slot? I'm working on it. Anywho...
This might be Track Town USA, but there's not just runners here. There are bikes everywhere.
Bikes are probably the most popular mode of transportation in this town, and there are plenty of good reasons why. There are a lot of bike paths both on the roads and all around, so it's a great way to get around. Plus it's cheap and a good way to get exercise. Not paying for gas is a pretty big deal for most college kids, because they'd rather be spending it on... education. Let's say that.
As you know, I'm a little iffy when it comes to bikes. You know when you see people running and think, "Oh dear. I can walk that fast."? Think that, but on a bike. However, I've been hopping on my purple and silver ride quite a bit recently. (Good lord, is everything I own purple?)
I rode to Ross on Thursday, and decided it would be nice to ride over to my Aunt's house today to bake bread and study.
Now, when I bake bread, I use a baking stone. For homework, I needed to finish editing a paper on my laptop. I also thought it would be a good idea to do some laundry over there. Can you see where this is going?
That's how I rode over there. Sure it was only three miles, but with that... it's a challenge.
Luckily, I was able to get the laundry, stone, and bread back to my house without having to bike back with it. Still... I'm kind of an idiot for taking so much stuff in the first place.
On the ride back home, it became apparent how terrible at biking I am. What happened was I thought there was going to be an edge on the sidewalk, right? Well, I stopped. I stopped fine... and then I just fell over. I wasn't even moving, I just fell over. It didn't hurt because I wasn't moving, but it was just ridiculous. I just popped back on my bike and kept moving like nothing even happened. The whole scenario probably happened in twenty seconds. Geezus, I can't bike. Why am I considering signing up for tri?
Wasn't I talking about how students get around? Oh yeah. Other than biking, people walk a lot. And run. Sure, there's driving, but not much on campus because students walk everywhere. That includes in the streets. Therefore, it takes a car twenty minutes to get anywhere that takes five minutes to walk to. So walk.
As for the bread, I need to work on my baking time. This bread is undercooked, dangit! That's the second loaf I've underbaked. Surprisingly, it still tastes delicious. I'm still going to eat it, but I need to work on my baking time.
What sport are you ridiculously incompetent at?

Procrastination and Getting on the Bike
I've officially become what I avoided being this whole school year. An extreme procrastinator.
Alright, maybe it's just because I don't have that much of this class left. It also could be because on Mondays and Wednesdays I end up having a big chunk of time to work on my work. But during the school year if I ever did homework, I didn't have anything distract me. Now... let's just say I've been doing a lot of multitasking. Not so good. I am doing my work... just other things are going on while I do it. I'm thinking this habit will change once it's the real school year again.
Other than homework, I did do something today that I haven't done in quite a long time. I rode a bike.
Yeah, it seems a little weird, but I just haven't done it in a long time. I've had my reasons, like my bike has been messed up for awhile. Every summer I have to fix it, and this summer I just haven't done it. Maybe I'm resentful of it. However, I was able to ride a friend's bike that is staying at our house for a bit to my dad's work and back.
I suppose I don't hate biking. I don't like biking in competitive or athletic form is all. One of the things that I dislike to do the most is ride bikes with other people because I am slow. That makes me feel crappy about myself, therefore building hatred towards the metal demon. (Okay, not that bad. Right.)
I like the idea of leisurely biking down a little road, not in a race setting. Spinning sounds awful.
That's all I've got for today, so I'll see y'all later.
What athletic activity do you like to do alone? With a group?

Studying Time, Absurdly Disorganized, and Menacing Children on Bikes
Let's make it quick here, because I have to go back to some more studying before bed.
First of all, if I end up gaining the freshmen fifteen, or at least any weight, it's going to be during this week. At least the beginning of the week. Strangely enough, I haven't necessarily been feeling hungry, but I know that I should eat. So I do. My hunger gauge gets loopy after a cold. However, with the attempt of running my meal money out, it's been difficult balancing things out. I could be imagining things, I dunno.
Next, I have heard the phrase, "There's always Facebook," or a variation of that far too often in the last two days. It's sad seeing everyone go, especially since I won't be around next year. I don't think the fact that I won't be seeing any of the people 'round here anytime soon has hit me quite yet. All I know is that I'm almost all alone in the dorms. I suppose it wouldn't matter right now since all that I've been doing is studying for the past few days.
The room situation can be named "absurdly disorganized" currently. I can't help it! (Well, I'm not sure how true that is.) Still, I've been studying a lot, and the biggest reason things are scattered are because I haven't had enough time to organize everything to look pretty. I have packed away more things.
I guess the one thing I did other than studying and taking a final today was go for a run. For some reason, I keep on deciding that it would be best to run when the sun is at its peak. Every time, I curse myself and think, "I'll never do this again!" But I do. However, with the way my schedule is changing up, I'll be able to run either early morning or in the evenings.
Random thing: Apparently little kids really hate runners. Twice I was running and went to one side, but instead of going on the other side the kid would aim their bike directly at me. Seriously! Kids on bikes are mean.
Back to studying for me, but hopefully everyone else will have a lovely evening!
What part of your life gets pushed to the side when it's big event time? For me, it's definitely cleaning.
