The Future Tense and the Conditional Tense

Gee, it's been awhile since I've talked about a lesson that a fictional character has taught me... but that's not going to happen today either. I simply don't have any lessons I can recall at the moment. So let's move on.4

Ah, I'm so excited that it's the last week of Spanish. After this, no more language classes ever! No more nights of piles of meaningless assignments. Lovely. Truthfully, I brought up the Spanish to talk about what we've been working on lately.

In Spanish (and English as well), there are two different types of future tenses. There's the Future Tense (duh), and the Conditional Tense. The Future tense is a tense that is used when we know that something is going to occur in the future, such as:
"I will go to the bank" or
"They will dance at the party."

For the Conditional, it's the future as well but it's what you would do in the future. It's not a for sure thing:
"They would bring it to the store tomorrow."
"I would speak to him if I could."

Why do I bring this up you ask? Well, I've simply got to wonder which version of the word is used with hopes and dreams?

Because let's think about it. Are you definitely going to become a musician when you grow up? How about how many children you're going to have? It's just a weird concept.

As for dreams and desires, I've been thinking about them a lot lately. Yeah, I need to live in the moment I know. However, with thinking about these dreams and goals, it's been making me think, "Why do we all wait and wait and wait to even think about going for our dreams?"
I use travel as my example. There are some days where I simply think, "I could just pack up some things and go on an impromptu road trip. Just me, the road, and the world." After that initial thought, reality sets in. "I have school, and a job, and how would my running schedule be affected?" We throw so many roadblocks in our way, don't we? It makes sense to think about one's responsibilities, but at the same time we don't want to be stuck, right?

All I know is that I don't want to be looking back on my life regretting how few adventures I had.

Squabbling Freakout Events

I always thought that it would be depressing to go to a movie by myself. My mom and my sister told me that it wasn't sad, if you want to go to a movie just go. Pish, what nonsense.

But then this last Sunday I did just that. And really, don't knock it until you try it.

What I went to see was the movie Horrible Bosses, which I really wanted to see. Jason Bateman, Jason Sudekis, and Charlie Day? Yes!

Which brings me to the movie. I thought it was great, funny, all of that good stuff. It's interesting about the funniness though because there seems to be a trend going on in comedy movies now that I'd like to call the Squabbling Freakout Event.
As you've seen in a lot of movies, there are many instances where the main characters all start talking about an event going on. This usually leads to all of them talking at once. During this time, some of the funniest lines tend to be said, and I think the reason for that are the comedians themselves. These moments give them the chance to improv, and let them think of some of the goofiest lines you've ever heard.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I think it's actually a great way to go about making funny parts in movies. It's just kind of funny that it's become such a mainstream thing. I remember when more indie movies did it, now it's so much more mainstream. Humor changes with time, like everything else. For instance, I don't think as many people now think slapstick is that funny. Even sarcastic humor isn't as funny to us as it was in the 90s.

Guh, I can't believe it's only Tuesday. Then again, there is no way in heck that I'm ready for my long run yet, so it's kind of okay that it's only Tuesday.

I tried looking up an image for an example of the Squabbling Freakout Event in action, but they were no where to be found. People really like seeing Jen Aniston nibbling on a concerned Charlie Day's ear though. Goodness.

Bakery Breakfast, Libraries and Travelling Solo

I love the feeling of a nice venturing day. Those days where you happen to do things that aren't scheduled, but just errands for things you want to do? That's what I mean.

I started out the morning with a bakery breakfast with two of my friends. I'm not used to eating breakfast at 10 though, so I naturally woke up at 8:30 and waited.
I didn't do much after that until I walked down to the library. Oh goodness, I love the library. It turns out that my card was expired though! Huh. It felt like I had just gotten it renewed. I went in search of only a few specific books...

... and as you can see, I got a little overexcited. I tend to. The book on the top intrigues me most because it's a collection of essays from women who have traveled the world alone.
As I've talked about before, I really want to travel somewhere. Yeah, I know I'm not the only one out there who wants to travel, but I'm not talking about family vacations somewhere. I really want to go somewhere I can explore, even if it's like California. Actually, I really want to go to California and explore things like the Chinese Theater, The Walk of Fame, and Hollywood. Whenever I mention this, I get the reply of, "Okay, you should do that! Who would go with you?"
That's where I hold my tongue. Truthfully, I want to go by myself. However, when I throw that idea out there I instantly hear the warnings of how a girl shouldn't travel alone, because it's dangerous for a girl, blah blah blah. I know that women will always have an elevated risk in traveling, but I'm hoping this book could educate me on safer solo travel and other solo traveler know-how.

Plus there were groceries that were purchased today. I should have bought more green peppers.

So I can eat them like this.

Long run tomorrow... Oh dear. I'm scared, especially since I've been feeling a little off. I hope I'm not getting injured.
