Saturday Night and Such

Whenever I have trouble starting out a blog, I start surfing the web. It happens. I suppose it's because my thoughts are a tad scattered tonight.

Good news on the book selling front: I already sold a book! Granted, it was probably for a lot cheaper than it should have been, but I think I made a decent buck. Well, once I get paid.

On another note, new SNL tonight! Huzzah! I keep forgetting what day it is, and it's barely been two days. It may seem like I've been watching a lot of television, but I'm really not. One thing I had to watch? My Theatre professor from last year being on a television show. WHAT. That's the craziest thing ever! So nicely done Ted. Sorry you had to be eaten by rats. (Grimm is a pretty morbid show.)

I can't wait to use them! Also, can you tell my family members like to shop? They just buy things... even if it's not for a holiday gift or anything. Just because it's there. I it's a very nice trait, but I'm glad I don't have a weakness for buying things "just because they're there". I'm surprised the members of my family haven't gone broke.
I simply never buy things on a whim, really. That includes for myself. The last thing I bought "on a whim" for myself was in October, when I bought a Portland Marathon Mug, a headband, and a sticker for my car. Unless you count half marathon registration in November? I dunno.

I really thought I would have a lot more to say today, but honestly I do not. It's just one of those days I suppose.

Learning About the Political Game

It's Saturday Night Live!

Yeah, I'm back at the house, for one last night. Back to school, actually starting Monday. Guh. Now that it's here, I'm freaking out. I'm going off track though. What was I talking about? Yes, SNL.

It's the new season of SNL, and as you know (or not), I adore SNL. Or I just love comedic actors. Well the first sketch of SNL is usually a political sketch of some kind. Of course, it was about political debates about the potential presidential candidates. That got me to thinking about, well the 2012 elections.

Yes, they're more than a year away, but advertisements are already starting up. This is my first year for voting for the president. What a wild responsibility! Sure, I'm just one person but each vote (sorta) counts.

Being able to vote should mean being able to make an educated decision on who to vote for. However, a lot of people don't get the knowledge they should about voting. Is it because they don't have the access to the appropriate knowledge? Or maybe they don't want to make an effort to get informed. I just don't want that to be me.

So I've got to ask y'all: Where do you get informed about presidential candidates, and their views?

I know many news sources are biased, but what are some good ones that aren't as biased? There's got to be some out there, right?

Other than that, I'm starting to get addicted to Words With Friends on my phone. It's pretty much Scrabble with people you know. Yeah.

Running Away From Home and Saturday Night Live

Yes, I ran away from home today... but I ran back! That may sound odd, but it's true. Today was yet again my long run day. I ended up staying the night at my home so I would be able to get work done. I knew that if I was to stay up at the cousins' house there would be no way anything would be achieved. Truth be told, I can't really say I've gotten the best amount of work completed, but it's something. And there's still the evening...

Now! About the long run. The very beginning was... Oof. Could have been due to the fact that it was after a few days of consuming an overload of brie and pie. Not the best fuel for a run. Funny thing was, after a couple miles I was feeling pretty good. Breathing heavy, but I felt the running vibe! At the very end was where my legs were starting to die. I got 11 miles in! The farthest I've run yet! Fantastic!

I have always been a big fan of comedy. I can, and have spent an entire day watching stand up comedy. I try to think of how something funny could be incorporated into a situation. This makes it obvious that I would be someone who loves Saturday Night Live. Personally, I think that people should appreciate SNL more. People complain that "It's not as good as it used to be." Honestly, right now there are some great members of SNL, especially some of the new cast members this year. SNL has effected the news, life, everything.  There have been some amazing hosts, two of my favorites are Justin Timberlake and Jon Hamm. They are surprisingly hilarious. If you've never really watched SNL, I suggest you do it. It hasn't been on air for more than 35 years for nothing.

Back to work. Meh.
